Default Selling Private Timber??

We have about 15ac in the foothills that is 95% covered in Pine and and some white poplar.

Does anyone know of who, where, contact or how to have someone come and purchase the timber. We don't want to clear it but want to do a significant reduction for safety and greater ability to use the property.

The way I see this situation -
1) -- 15 acres is not a large tract of land
2) -- pine usually is fairly wide spread and hopefully no infestation by bugs
3) -- if not wanting it "clear cut", that means "selective logging", which means
labor intensive with minimal soil disturbance..
4) -- how mature is this stand and what would it "scale" at ?
5) -- unless you know of a small saw mill operator, chances of getting ANY
monetary gain does not appear to be significant
6) -- any contractor would probably have to be close by to cut down on
trucking expenses
I hope I am wrong and you can get what you want as stated...
I might also suggest to ask SRD if they might know of someone to help you
Good Luck to you...

I do a fair amount of clearing for pipelines and roads. We don't like to see any salvage timber. We just want to burn it. Cost ya more to get it out of the bush than what its worth. Buy a wood stove. hehehe

I knew a guy he had a chunk of bush. he cut a huge "X" in it...just flattened it from corner to corner of the property.

He'd sit out there and wait for deer to cross.

Try the Coleman boys at Elkton. They have a sawmill and might be interested. Another small mill outfit, just a little south and west of Cremona.

Thanks for some of the tips. The last time any severe removal was done was when our GG Grandpa clear parts. The rest has been dead or wind blown ones many the last 40 years.
I guess I should have mentioned this is West of Rocky Mountain House.

All of the larger mills also have a log purchasing agent. Most times they will only offer you the market rate per M3 for the timber.

There usta be a outfit Little Mule Logging. Thought out by Lesleville or Eckville. I believe they did selective logging.

Thanks for the Eckville tip. That helped lead us in a good direction.

Are you looking to score a profit? You might have better luck to trade wood for the service of removing it.....ask them to leave you a few cut and stripped trees for firewood and you both win.....don't know much about logging but I would guess for them to move a outfit to your location for a little 15 acre piece that you don't want totally cleared would be expensive and time consuming I would guess the most enticing way would be for the wood to be free to them if they come remove it.
