Default 1st time fishing near Edmonton -- Wabamun or Wizard?

Going to be in Edmonton for work over the weekend, and looking to fish Saturday morning for a few hours.

Between Wabamun and Wizard, where do you suggest is better for action? Not looking to keep anything. Also not a die-hard pike guy.

- drive on both lakes with a truck still?
- if driving is out, which is best to walk on?

Thanks all.
Fwee

Wizard is drivable. Tons of small fish to keep one busy!

Wabamun is drivable. Never got skunked there ever.... but you'll catch mostly pike. If you wish to catch other species then you'll have to venture away from the general crowd on the lake.

Default wizard or Wabamun

We caught over 35 on Family day. Jig head with a minnow.
Ice is about 20 inches, no worries driving on at either Jubilee or any other access. We will be there on Saturday trying for a keeper or two

Never count Lac. St Anne out when fishing near Edm. Or even the NSR right in the city limits. I was thinking of trying the NSR this afternoon.

Do you mind if I ask you where in Edmonton you've seen open fishable water? I've seen the NSR opening up around multiple bridges in the last week but haven't found a spot to go down to the shore yet.

The outflows that dump into the river. There was a homade map of them posted on a thread a few years ago, I'll try and dig it up.

3 good spots right now is Goldbar (and quite a stretch downriver), Beverly Bridge and hermitage. See you there, but changed my mind about this afternoon, going for Burbot at a lake.

Thanks for the heads up! I plan on heading to my favorite burbot lake sometime this weekend but I might just try some NSR fishing tomorrow. Shoot me a pm if you're interested in having some company.
