Default Barnes Vor-Tx vs. Federal Barnes TSX

Hey guys,

Bit of background - used to shoot the Federal Barnes TSX 180 gr before it was discontinued and switched to the Barnes VOR-TX 165 gr afterwards. Really enjoyed the Federal 180 gr before and no real complaints on the Barnes VOR-TX 165 gr even though I preferred a bit of a heavier bullet out of the 300 WSM.

Question - has anyone done any thorough testing on the two and have any opinions to provide?

Needless to say I do intend to run it through my rifle to ensure it likes the load, but my question more pertains to the actual bullet construction or any info along those lines.

Cheers.

165 grain TSX will be an excellent bullet in the .300 WSM. I have been using a 165 tsx in my .30-06 for the last 15 years it’s about 2850 FPS over the chronograph and the last 2 elk and 1 moose I have shot with it were a complete passthrough. It’s prob unnecessary to use such a stout bullet in the .30-06 but I have gotten such good accuracy out of the load and verified drop to 400 yards I have found no reason to switch to something else.

I handload a 168TTSX in my 300WSM and have used it on game up to eland (2000lb African antelope). I don't feel I need anything more.
