Pretty sure 22 cals will be next after the 300wm. Cause anything above 1FPS is military grade equipment or sumthing

Personally I don’t shoot Black rifles (or semi auto pistols fir that natter) and have been called a Fudd because of it.
However I have been a staunch advocate of responsible firearms ownership no matter what type it is,since the mid 60’s so anytime I see a post with that word in it I don’t give it much weight .
Joining a national firearms organization , and paying visits to your MLA and writing letters will go far greater towards getting legislation turned over than ranting on a gun forum , but that is just my opinion.
Carry on.......

Bingo.
When a gun owner says "no one needs a *insert type of gun*" that's where a problem arises.
Gotta stand up for all guns and gun owners regardless if you don't think anyone needs one.

I don't like so called "black guns", semi auto pistols and lots of other rifles and shotguns.
Doesn't mean I think think that know one else should have them.

Those people are just as harmful as the anti firearms crowd. I shake my head at some of the people that show up at the range wearing tactical vests, with magazines hanging out, but I will support them being able to legally own their firearms.

So maybe you're not the problem. But there are a lot of people who aren't that way.

Ya think?
In the mid 60's bill C195 was introduced and the SFC and other Canadian shooting organizations fought like dogs to get it killed.
I was part of the SFC at that time and shot FN C1's.
Many people here are likely not old enough to remember that one .
It would have made EVERY rifle and shotgun with a barrel length under 18" in Canada illegal.
Snake Charmers, Remington 600's and their variants, 12" barreled 12 gauge shotguns, Winchester Trappers, all of them regardless of their overall length.

I am not sure if that post from New Zealand is to send all of us down a rabbit hole,
$ 10,000 in New Zealand dollars = $ 8,775.25 Canadian dollars
2 miles = 3520 yards = 3200 meters
The police in New Zealand are telling the government and media " a 16 year old can afford a rifle for less than $ 8700 and hit a target at 3520 yards." How can a 16 year old be trained like JTF-2 ?
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...ticle35415651/
" Canada has a world-class sniper system. It is not just a sniper. They work in pairs. There is an observer," a military source said. "This is a skill set that only a very few people have."The skill of the JTF2 sniper in taking down an insurgent at 3,540 metres required math skills, great eyesight, precision of ammunition and firearms, and superb training"
If an example from New Zealand, "a 16 year old being proficient as Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2)" eventually gets mentioned from Trudope and the Lieberals, we will have to educate them guys with the plain facts.
JTF-2 Example:

Cat; anyone that calls you a Fudd has a touch of the slow.
Anyone with half a working brain knows it has nothing to do with personal preferences, and everything to do with shooters that throw their fellow shooters under the bus by not supporting, or even undermining them.
I do think Fuddism should be called out and ridiculed a bit. Those people will seldom be on our side. Maybe a couple will realize that they're next, but most couldn't give a crap, which I have zero respect for. Doesn't matter what you shoot; I've even heard military guys, and someone that ended up with a select fire gun rail against the right for anyone else to have one. The hypocrisy is staggering sometimes.

Ron Spomer comes to mind, I lost any respect I had fir that his AR 15 comments a few years back .
In fact one stupid comment on a TV program almost killed his career as a gun writer completely if not Totally destroying it .
Now THAT guy is a true Fudd!

I'm confused about the 300win mag or equivalent power.... Are they just looking at some number posted in a book for muzzle energy? Why can't you load a 338LM light with 150gr bullets so the muzzle energy would be less than a heavily loaded heavy bullet in a 300win mag. And once it passes government protocol for power "accidentally" load it heavy for shooting.
Numbers are like statistics.... you can use them how you please and bias your results to reflect your passions

Lol! You think that they'll bend to a few handloaders; probably only 5% of gun owners? And go to the trouble of chronographing their personal loads to make sure that they're capable of making reliable ammunition below the energy cut off, and approve it on the shooter's word that he'll never make full power stuff in contravention of the new law?? That's a gooder!
More likely they'd acknowledge that it could be done; imagine that hand loaders are making super powerful versions of the .338 and try to snuff out reloading too!
Not calling you a Fudd or anything, but that is the type of thinking that they typically get trapped in. That there is no way that their trusty bolt gun, or goose buster could be on the list. If it does somehow, it must be some accident, and maybe we could just give away something else, or make some concession. You know, give away something that no one needs for hunting.

For the arbitrary magnum cut off, I'm sure they watched a couple war movies, read some shrill opinion pieces, met with one bystander who can attest the terrible power of the magnum when striking human flesh, and trolled a few forums. Lastly, they probably just did pick a number, loosely based off what they figure people "need", with barely a whit of practical gun knowledge.
I've opined that this would happen years ago, and stated as much on here and probably Gunnutz. Fudds take notice. Reloaders take notice. Sporting shotgun owners take notice. It's just that easy. "3000 ft./lbs. energy is more than sufficient to take large game across the country." And right there is a cut off. Like your Model 70 .264 Win Mag, that Dad hunted with? Want a .375 H&H for a big trip, or some extra thump on a moose? You're in their sights, too.
If I was a betting man, I'd put big money down on half or better of us having stuff that they would love to immediately "crack down" on.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Nobody is going to be hunting, period. They don't want hunters, they want naifs. Meat grows on a tree, vine, or you dig it up like a potato. Didn't you know that?
