Wait until the wind is friendly for those last two groups, and show the Sako again. Sako varmint stocks are my favorites for being both classy and practical.

Gentlemen,
Greeting. Just want to share my yesterday's attempt in SPFGA, Edmonton. I think I made it.
Rifle specs - AI AWP factory rifle in 308, no modification
Scope spec - Kahles 10-50x60 DD reticle
Load spec - 42.0 N140/Federal#210M/Lapua brass/155 SMK
OAL:0.015/0.030/0.045/0.060/0.075/0.090 off land
Distance - 100 meters
File 2016-10-20, 10 05 01 PM.jpg
File 2016-10-21, 9 32 03 AM.jpg
Measurement: 0.523 -- 0.637 -- 0.611 -- 0.574 -- 0.630 -- 0.869
Group size: 0.194 -- 0.293 -- 0.270 -- 0.238 -- 0.287 -- 0.494
Group size calculate formula: (measurement-0.299)/1.1/1.047 (0.299 is the actual hole size for 308 Winchester caliber)
Three things need to mention,
1. This paper is from my load development, so the OAL(s) are vary.
2. For the last group, actually it's my fault, my support hand was so tired that it loose so quick, which cause a very bad follow through. anyway, excuse is excuse. the good thing is I passed it.
3. OCW should be 45.7gr and 39.2gr, not the one used in this attempt(42.0gr). Actually I suspect 42.0gr is its scatter node. I can update my ladder test result(in 300m) if anyone interest.
Cheers,
Dongbin

Good work Pompey! That practice is paying dividends. How about a picture of your rig?

Nice shooting. Please explain how you are measuring and how your formula works..

Let's take the last one for example,
(0.869-0.299)/1.1/1.047 = 0.494 MOA
- 0.299: I took one shot, and measure the hole in target paper, its diamter is 0.299"
- 1.1: since I shot@100 meters, and 100m is 110 yards, roughly. It's 1.093 yards precisely.
- 1.047: precisely 1.047" at 100 yards is 1moa.

Very nice shooting but the groups are bigger than your measuring ,you can buy a proper caliber specific tool from Sinclair's that will take all
The guess work (errors ) out of measuring groups .if there is paper between the holes the group will be at least a caliber +
Still very impressive for a 308 Keep up the good work

Thanks .
I put several layers to try to make the measure more accurate. You can check attached image.
-For a 'caliber specific tool', do you mean a software or something similar?
-for the paper between holes, do you mean the right-top one? if yes, please see attached photo which was taken before target paper was removed from board.

its a set of calipers with an attachment that has an anchor and caliber specific circles inscribed on it .set the circle of your caliber on the Bullet hole ,anchor and measure to the longest point using the same circle centred over the farthest point , very accurate and fast to use . Biggest problem with trying to use just calipers and math is determining the edge of the bullet hole correctly and measuring directly across to the furthest point,Tends to really skew results .
Regardless , you shot some good groups keep it going

My second try with this rifle. Failed in my first try, average is still under half MOA though.
Sorry for the crappy pictures. have some trouble to export image from that app.
Stupid to not take a pic for the rifle, before stored it in my treasure box Nothing fancy, just a black/blue version TRG 22 with a KRG folder rear stock.
Will definitely post a photo, next time when I take it out.

Great job my friend!
PS: I made a delicious pot of Hunter's Stew (pheasant, goose and moose) with that wine you gave me last week. Thank you again for your kind gesture.

Great job Pompey. Looks like everything is coming together. Now is a good time to think back over the past couple of years and how much of a hurry you were in to shoot consistent dime sized groups ... all the “shortcuts” you wanted to take ... and how you were counseled to be more patient, and practice, practice, practice.... The crappy part about shooting dime groups is how bad you feel when it doesn’t happen.

Thank you for your kind words.
sns2,
my friend, it has been long time since we met. hope everything goes well
Planning to go hunting in the next one or two years, haha.
260 Rem,
Can't say enough 'thank you' to you, sir, for the help in the past few years. lots of explanation/eleborate .etc. I did learn a lot, and will continue to learn from you, lol .
Do you remember the issue I have, 'when the fire pin is triggerred, the cross-hair/scope/rifle will move to left'. I finally figured it out, :jump . My scope is a slightly further to my face, so I tend to put my head forward to compensate that, this lead to stock butt is not shouldered straightly(not 90 degree). Therefore, when the rifle has vibration, like released its fire pin, the rifle will move horizontally(by counterforce from my shoulder). Due to I'm right handed, it will move to left. A small shooting skill, casued me lots of time/energy/bullets ...
58thecat,
yeah, another good thing for this rifle is very comfortable. I can get high by just dry fire it, lol. Save bullets and don't need go to range. But I already have an AI, and I feel AI is a much more precision rifle, didn't fit me good though ...
JWCalgary,
As Deezel mentioned, it's "SubMOA" from APP store.
Cheers,
Pompey

I brought this challenge over from another site way back in ‘13, from another shooter that pulled it from yet another site ... I got the impression it was originally started as a reality check for shooters that were convinced a single group represented the capability of their rig.
Enjoy
