Wonder if it will take the Oilers a few periods to figure out they aren't playing one of the worst teams in the playoffs anymore.

Lol. There will be no one left to play before the game is over. Some good stuff there.

Haha. My first post you quoted should have been quoted comlletely:

Florida only lost in the category that matters most, really. That category was Bobrovsky (well, they also couldn’t keep the Bruins off from in front of him). They lost the game, but they weren’t beat down. Today, Boston was beat physically and mentally, and they showed it. They had 3 shots on goal in the third; Florida had 16 on Monday, which is more than the Bs had in the entire game today.

I guess we are just looking differently at the meaning of “beat down”, haha.

P.S. I also don’t really care who wins this year (Oilers would be nice, but so would Vancouver; in case of the latter, I, at least, won’t have to hear about it for years to come) and I am not in any pools or anything, so I am not biased. In case you are wondering, lol. I just want to see some great hockey.

When, with a couple of minutes left to play, they say that Edmonton hasn’t had a shot on goal since Hyman’s goal, while Vancouver scored three times, dare I say - Oilers got beat down. Lol.

Edit: They should also definitely do better on the face offs of all things.

They said this the first time ever that McJebus has not had a shot on goal in a playoff game. Good thing he can pass!

NYR vs Car, Fla vs Bos, and Col vs Dal series makes the Van vs Edm series look like game one of the ECHL regular season, Iowa vs Atlanta. The better, repeat, better goalie had a 0.792 SA%. Sure way to score, fire it right at him!

When one doesn't like either team, it's hilarious to watch though. If Pettersson and Hughes don't show up offensively and Demko remains out, who knows, maybe this will be a close series.

I kinda felt they had too. I think they should shake up the core as well, and maybe they will, but this was the first step. When Matthews, Marner, and Tavares, and their combined $35M cap hit, score a combined 3 goals in round one, they go 4.8% on the PP, lost in the first round 7 of the last 8 years, etc. somethings gotta give.

They also have some structure issues though, pretty sure nobody is shocked a team going into the regular season with Samsonov, Woll, and Jones in net with Rielly and Lyubushkin as the No. 1 pair didn't have a deep run.

^ We judge the same in regard to your last two posts above, lol.

Hurricanes are playing great. Svechnikov is a beast: 6 shots, 7 hits, an assist and the tying goal. He’s been all over the ice making a difference. Shesterkin is surely doing his job too. Another OT.

Edit: Well, that’s unfortunate for the Canes.

Dallas isn't Edmonton, so it should be enough, but Colorado is making it interesting.

Dallas certainly isn’t helping themselves. Looks like it may not have been enough. We shall see.

I think the Ian Cole is ranked 5th in Oilers points so far for the series with a goal and a couple assists!

Rangers lost their first game of these payoffs. Didn’t see the game or highlights myself. Looking at the stats, New York had a better game than the last three, but it was the opposite for Shesterkin. Goalies make the biggest difference.

Dallas - Colorado was an ok game, but not great. Dadonov Seguin and whoever the third guy on that line is were particularly strong. Thought Benn wasn’t playing at all until I heard his name at the end of the third. Colorado looked like they were out of steam or something. Lots of passing into nowhere or to a Dallas player, unorganized, etc. They started out ok, but quickly lost it.

Nichushkin didn’t score in a game for the first time in these playoffs. He was tied for the most consecutive games with a goal to start the payoffs. Meaningless, but I was cheering for him to get another one. He was close when he hit the post in the second (I think?).

It's been edited now, but on his Wiki page, under the Vancouver signing heading, it said..."Ian Cole now plays for the Edmonton Oilers signing a limited 3 week secret contract where Cole has been responsible for numerous goals".
