For one , remained calm and professional. The kid pushed back and they got triggered because how dare he, we're the police who does he think he is If those ladies had nothing but themselves to rely on and Ocean had been a badass , they could have been in real trouble.
For 2 use common sense , this isnt a murder its a young adult playing hockey. Portraying themselves like a couple of premenstral physchos certainly complicated things

I think that's relevant in this situation.

No education needed here. Young man had no reason not to give the officer his name. He was just being disrespectful. They didn’t ask for his name to arrest him they likely wanted to issue a fine. Which under the current bylaw, he was breaking. No one else was belligerent with the officers and all they got was a warning.

Perhaps Germany is not an example that you like. There are countless other instances where government has taken away rights of the people starting with small things including gun control. Mao, Stalin, Pol pot. Do you think that those instances, never to be repeated again? How about Hugo Chavez. That feels pretty current. A little more to your liking. A bit more moderate. Why do you desire to be told what to do and think by your government?
I think our Government is constantly overstepping their bounds. They are taking away our freedom under the guise of safety.
For us to accept them making our decisions for us as if we can’t possibly decide for ourselves is just too much. To me they should only suggest measures and procedures.
They do it with smoking and it has far greater consequences.

I don't think anybody compared Canada to 'Nazi Germany'. I think the point being made was that Nazi Germany didn't start with concentrations camps and Jews being massacred. It started with ordinary people who were only too happy to go along with whatever rules and laws their leaders came up with, and were happy to support the police (Gestapo) who enforced those laws. It was a matter of social conditioning. It was for the good of the Fatherland.
2 years ago, you would have been the first to decry the very concept of churches and businesses being shut down and people being arrested and fined for gathering, speaking, going about their life. Especially in such a hypocritical manner as has been done.
Now, you are all for it. Granted, you have always backed anything anybody with a badge does, with no questions asked. That is social conditioning.
|
your perspective...two years ago you would have, could have, should have....your getting conditioned too...another version of social conditioning just seen through a different set of eyes...mirrors tell no lie's....look deep and hard.

They will never get them
Create civil disobedience to justify more laws and less freedoms and little by little you will gain absolute power by turning people against each other
Any politician who creates a "rat" line should be eliminated
Trudeau needs to go.

Good answer. Hard to refute that bit of logic.
Well, Merry Christmas. If you see your neighbors having too many family over, you know what to do.

This country has not seen anything like as a nation, impacting all since WWII and after that the generations have grown accustomed to immediate gratification for the most part but now are faced with restrictions and that just rubs them the wrong way...so and thankfully only a small part of the population are self centred and the rest carry on, dig in and will get through this.

Well I can agree with you that life has definitely gotten easier. Largly
Due to hard work sweat and blood of past generations the government has been steadily taking away rights and controlling us more and more. We don’t seem to care because life is good.

Arresting anyone for playing some pond hockey in Canada, anywhere, should result in an automatic suspension without pay and a full on assessment with a local shrink. Jesus wept.
IMO these cops were way off base with this. When thieving meth heads are given the revolving door time and time again, blockades of critical infrastructure such as rail lines, etc are given the blind eye, how much respect do LEO think they should have in this society? It's a race to the bottom. Boom.

I feel an appropriate response to this would be to organize another game. When 40 roughnecks in full gear refuse to get off the ice, masked and holding hockey sticks, and give the cops the option of getting back in their cars and telling their bosses that the general public has had enough, it would be interesting to see what happens.
Personally I find the most disturbing thing about the whole current situation, is that everyone is so happy to enthusiastically ENFORCE these rules, to a degree that they know for a fact is unreasonable. The government has always enjoyed making BS rules, but our current trend of previously reasonable people that are happy to enforce this BS to the enth' degree with little regard for common sense is truly a whole new low for humanity. For shame.

The apologists who think the cops were just doing their job are so much the problem. Stupid laws have always been and still are in place.
Back when the cops were respected, they knew which areas of the law needed more attention, and could certainly easily handle a situation with a bunch of clean-cut sober kids playing pond hockey.
No booze, drugs, cars, weapons, and the cops still fell apart. And people blindly support them. OMG

Question: Why was the law enforced on a hockey rink in the open air with a relatively small number of people around and NOT enforced with flagrant anti-maskers filling up downtown, or on the C-train, or in shopping malls, etc. Honest question?

Good summary
Also good question. Or at Kenney’s recent indoor meeting?

But it is ok to have a thousand people have an anti mask rally and no arrests and police escort to boot. They wonder why people don't comply to these rules. They police had this coming even though the kid was a dork.
