I'm not certain as to why it worked out this way. I was misinformed as to the fact that I could apply for both calf and antlered. I applied for the calf and wasn't able to apply for the antlered. My priority 3 for antlered has been removed and a calf tag awarded. I'm happy regardless as it is meat first and foremost.

You cannot apply for 2 moose draws in the same year. You should not have lost any priority in your antlered draw, but it will not have increased this year either.

Checked online at 6 am yesterday just to see. And it kind of started my day off bad. Got a Mule draw. But no go on my moose draw. The area i drew for had a 100% chance for my priority in the past few years. So they must have cut back on tags for that area.
Had an Elk trip planned this year. But Unable to go due to hunting parnter not getting time off work. So decided to pull a moose draw. And now thats a no go. So now its down to sitting in the blind for Mulies and Whitetails for a month.

There are more than just tag numbers that play a factor in such things.

I'm buying a lottery ticket...
Got bull moose in Sept in 544
Suffield cow elk in the Nov 24 season (bro did as well)
Zama bison (I checked it twice...it was there...no hallucination)
A buddy joked I'll need to buy a walk-in freezer; I'm already shopping around.

Disappointed
I seriously don't get it I have p9 for moose and a p4 for mulie buck in 304 and didn't get either what gives?. I 999 ed my antlerless elk and mulie doe cause I was sure I would get one of them and didn't want to have to much meat. . now it looks like I am going to have to really buckle down with the bow this year and try for a elk .

Folks you have to remember this is a "draw" system....there are no guarantees! We are starting to see the effects of large numbers of folks entering the draws look at the P0-P4 in most draws, then do the math on how many years it takes at current tag allotments....things that used to take 2-3 years are now taking 4-6 years....or longer.
Did I mention there are no guarantees....

I've got one if you're interested.
Early cow elk for me. I was expecting early bull moose. Can't win them all I guess. Hunting friend got drawn for mule deer around cypress hills. Might go as his apprentice.

the moose was a long shot on a p9 but the mule p4 should have gotten it as per last yrs numbers but as they say things change...we missed the bull moose with a P10

Bison are an actual draw and you don't accumulate priority points.

The season length was significantly reduced this year...Nov 1-30 only....should be a good hunt though!

There's worse things you could be doing. I didn't get anything but two mulie draws and I'm still so stoked to get out. Can't wait for September 1st to get here and the hunting season to begin.
