How many kinds of carp are we talking about here?
Asian, Prussian, grass, silver. Are they all the same beast?

Prussian only in Alberta, except some triploid grass carp planted for algae control.

Soooooo?
Where would I suggest a buddy to go with his family for some fishing fun for these Carp?
Someone has to cough up a canal or a body of water if the problem is so extreme.

I think this thread is a long running April fools joke. I ran my nets in Weed lake today and it still contains glass worms, which don't live in bodies of water containing fish. Every fall I harvest river shrimp in the exit canals from Chestermere and Dalmead lakes ... lots of fish trapped in them ...still have not seen a carp.

I would give them another two weeks, closer to may long weekend they will start moving around. Last night's frost has 'em hiding in deep water. I managed to get out for few hours this morning but noticed iced puddles. Still kinda cold for them to be really active. Talked to few people on the pond and beside one carp every other catch was either sucker or perch.

They could well be , I have no idea. I only know what I observed on some of the bodies of water discussed in this thread.

These must be unique fish, most fish would just head to shallow water to warm up.

I believe it much more than I believe fish staying in deep water because of a few ice puddles.

It's not a joke at all, on page 2 of this thread I posted a google map link of the large water body where the video was filmed. It's titled update.

OP is right. Went there yesterday, braved the cold for 1 hr, saw plenty of small ones near the shore and caught 1 half a pounder. In 2-3 weeks when water will get warmer it will be fun place to visit.

Sadly it is all too real and a major catastrophe affecting all anglers in Alberta. Like illegally introduced perch destroys the fishing in a trout pond ...so too will carp wreck havoc and harm pretty much all of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Some idiots will move these to BC next potentially harming salmon fishing and trout fishing throughout the province. Just a matter of time before they spread south into the US.
Sad day when those idiots stocked the first pond.
