They just beat a very good hockey team. Timely scoring, solid goaltending, disciplined style of play. Hartley for the Adams!!

Just to clarify he was talking about the LA Kings, not the Oilers game

Is Ortio this good?
Only 4 games I know, but this is crazy. The guy is sporting a .958 save percentage. the best the league has. His goal against is a league leading 1.23.
Another fun game to watch last night. It was a late one though. I had to drag Willy out of bed this Am. It sure is fun watching hockey with a hockey mad 13 year old. He knows stats and speaks intelligently about the game.
Heck of a road trip for the guys. This games were all "Must wins" and so far it has worked out. One more game VRS the Ducks then it gets easier with Buff, Min and Edmonton.

Honestly the playoffs are still a dream, but watching the fight for a spot is amazing. If nothing else, they are learning the value of hard work.

As an Oilers fan it is tough to admit but I have watched more Flames hockey than Oilers. I am enjoying it, the Flames are a hard working team that do not give up. Which is way more than I can say for my beloved Orange and Blue.
Although I think the Oilers have taken a step in the right direction since Dallas was let go that team has a very long ways to go. The give a crap meter of most the players is very low, the work ethic and the culture of losing are going to be very hard to get out of there without some big changes.
As far as the Flames chances of making the playoffs I say 50-50 they will be fighting and contending right up til the bitter end I think. That said the level of play they have managed to sustain so far is going to get even more difficult in the last third of the season. Great to see Ortio doing well when given a chance but I dont see him staying unless they can move Ramo, and who would take him? That is a very short list I think, maybe they can move him at the deadline but I think Ortio will be back in the A once the all-star break hits.
I have tickets next week to watch the Oilers and Sabres, battle of the cellar dwellers. Man I hope the Oilers at least try!
My boss offered me tickets for a Flames game during their home stand after the All-star break I am looking forward to picking which game to go to!

They beat a poor team the way they should. The old Flames would have lost this one, hence no playoffs. Sure wish they would get off the third period magic & have the game in hand @ the end of two. Fun watching!!

Yes, sometimes the third period burst of production makes the first two periods nail biters....haha. But Johnny G sure put on a good show again, his first goal standing between two large veteran D men, in the crease, was pretty impressive. I think the pair of them outweighed him 3 to 1

Well, I'll give it to the Oilers, they got the first two goals.
But, the Flames did get the last four. Watching Bouma trying to get his hat trick at the end was comical, I think his nerves were shot haha.

I thought they folded more like a cheap lawn chair, those are usually more painful than folding shirts....

All we needed was a good 20mins to beat this really crappy team...hanging around in a playoff spot, life is good....

Captain CUPCAKE????
Come on keep it nice. Lololol
Sorry, I was busy with a basement full of kids. Unfortunatly there was a Leafs fan in attendance. We made him bring snacks before being allowed in the house.
Kid actually showed up in a leafs jersey.....
There is no battle of Alberta anymore. Nothing to chirp about. Perhaps when Edmonton gets a NHL team again we can have some fun.

Yes "Captain Cupcake!" Ference should been on the same bus as Eakins. I am all for communtiy involvement but he really is a joke as captain. He is like that person at work that organizes all the birthday and christmas parties but is brutal when it comes to the actual job. I pray someone offers a bag pucks for him at trade deadline but I doubt that will happen. And maybe we can get a rack water bottle for Niki!

Agreed Ference is a #6 D man at best and is a goofy choice as captain but the Oilers are a goofy org. so it does sort of fit, Taylor Hall is hurt and may not play for awhile I imagine he's really upset about that lol

They seem better without him in the line up. No idea what the actual numbers are.

It is hard to believe
I'd say Hartley should get the Adams if it wasn't the kiss of death.
Edmonton has some good players but they are a poor team, notice the speed of the young flames and how they pass the puck. It is like coaching 8 year olds, pass pass pass. Just that the Flames do it, use the "no red line" and have the jump in the third period when older teams/ players don't.
I think they will make the playoffs for sure, and who would want to face a bunch like them, they don't know when they are beaten!
Go Flames

Yeah, that battle is pretty much over. In the last 10 years, they have played 71 games (to date). Calgary has won 45 of those, Oil 26. That is about a 65-35% win/loss ratio. Not much of a battle there.
