What I like about 999 is that you don't need a hunter host designation, you can just bring in folks from outside Alberta and Canada. And that started me thinking about getting into guiding.

I called APOS and asked if guiding in 999 without a license would get me in trouble with them. They said nobody ever gets in trouble with them, and to go for it.

If zone 999 doesn't work out Oki, try the zone next to Banff. I hear there's unicorns in Banff that sneak across the boundary from time to time. Big money in guiding for unicorns!

Haha this thread is becoming my daily source of laughter.

I have to say, although there are many reasons why I love wmu 999, I think my favourite reason is you can practice harvest and release hunting all year. I wish fishing would allow a guy to catch and release without a tag and only require a licence if you're keeping fish. Then I could save my $30 each year

I've heard it is a road hunters wet dream and hike hunters nightmare. I'm tired of people walking with guns and back packs effing up my hunts.

Walmart currently has a special offer running for all lucky 999 draw winners,...
A carton of smokes, two four of bear, ruger 10/22 and a bucket "O" bullets, all for ¥9.99!
Oh, and they'll throw in a retro copy of The Deer Hunter, (Beta tape version).
Sounds like a solid deal to me,...

Does anyone know where I can put up a wall tent in 999? What's the best wood stove to heat it with? Anyone see any grizzly bears while hunting 999 last year? Do you think my .243 is ok for moose or elk? Can I drive my quad before noon? Are there any good water sources?

Quad? Geez man just check the regs! 999 has its own page and you can drive your quad any time of day you want. Who's to tell you what to do with your quad in any wmu
Wall tent? Just do day trips in the truck
Stove? Truck heater ... or a/c if it's early season.
243 can't kill anything bigger than gophers, better get the latest magnum. I think Nosler has some
Who drinks water when they're hunting? Sllly question. It's bring your own beer or whiskey
and one last thing. ...there aren't any grizzlies in Alberta

Heard a rumour that there is grizzlies in Alberta. Unless the landowners and ranchers have shot them all. Just going by what Facebook and ao tells me.

I was unlucky to not get my 999. Dam last year we stayed at the lobstick hotel and they were nice enough to cut and wrap our elk for us. They say that's standard practice in 999. Next time will stay at JPL you can shoot from your front deck there and they clean your guns at night

I love 999! We were head shooting Mule and White Tail Does from my friends Hot tub when He was on holidays with Our .223's. Local Hutterites came by and gutted, skinned, cut and wrapped them all for us. We also have a sweet little Japanese restaurant that makes cabbage rolls just like babba across the street from where We Trap Grizzlies in the summer. Hoping to get my Woodland Caribou Cow draw there, fingers crossed, results come out August 8th!

Anyone ever see any wild boar in 999?

Can I leave my wall tent up for the entire season?

Do the natives hunt 999?

You need to hunt this wmu with a prostaffer. Without a bunch of stickers on your back window, you are a nobody.

Nothing wrong with her boots. They're a nice natural colour.

Color is fine but don't you think they sit a little too high and should be done up fully for more protection against the elements?
