Loaded some barnes .257 weatherby with 4350 and Barnes 100gr. Then did a ladder test for the wifes .308 and helped a buddy load some of my old bergers for his .308. Did 5 shots in less than 5/8 of an inch

Nothing. It’s too full of stuff. My 16 year old daughter says it requires hiring a professional organizer.

Rolled up 40 “match grade” plinkers in .308win for my Coyote. But these are not just for some trigger time practice plinking session. Since I sold my boomer, I have an extra scope that I really like. So I’ve decided to mount it on the Coyote and use these rounds to get it zeroed.

Yeah I know…I won’t need 40 rounds to do that.

Loaded 25 rounds of 33XC to test some load data with H50BMG powder and 300gr hornady Amax bullets started with 118gr, and climbed the ladder to 121gr, will test them for velocity and accuracy, should be no pressure yet as max is 126gr according to David Tubbs.

Theses were for a friend of mine, he's just getting into reloading and wanted some help with this cartridge, I can't wait to pull the trigger on this puppy and help him do the testing, going to have to wait for a few more days as we are into a cold snap this week.

Cleaned toys from trip to range yesterday.....man I hate cleaning 17, bore is sooo small. young fella tried the 270 T3, did not like the recoil on regular ammo but the managed recoil stuff was ok, stopped at CSC on the way home for a Limbsaver!

Finally, figured out what my rifle was actually chambered in Was told it was a 6mm,22-250 Walker? International, Well that was incorrect it actually is a 6mm XC by David Tubbs I knew it was a shooter and am glad I spent the time to figure it out. Now just need some new brass for it! Anyone got some .250 Savage brass they want to part with?

x reload has peterson brass in stock. i tried forming 6 creedmore and 22-250 for mine this weekend, not great results. maybe my 'cheap' whidden dies don't size quite small enough, but couldn't get the lapua to fit at all. on the upside the alpha i bought seemed to work great. it may be available somewhere too.

Exact opposite of my rig, no other brass would fit but Lapua. I tried probably 10-12 different brands of brass. (22-250) I did however have some old .250 Savage (DOCo) brass, pulled the bullets, sized in a Forester 6mmXC die and it worked slicker then JT's lawyer covering his bosses butt. Took it to the range today, no extraction or bolt click issues. ( which I had with the Lapua brass). Brass grew by about .018 so it is a bit short for the chamber. Second firing "hopefully" will fix the problem. Neck is tight also, so need to neck turn about 1-2 thou. I guess I got a bit of a Frankenstein, but I love chasing the problem.

I tried reforming Creedmore cases. Tubbs said they would work, but they were much too fat for my chamber. He mentioned 6x47 and another one in his video, maybe it will help you out.

Spent 45 minutes hunting for an ejector detent bearing that went merrily flying across the room before I gave up and went to the drawer for a spare!
Put the bolt back together and called it a day before I really messed up!

I have little patience now for searching for some tiny thing ,so I could see why you evacuated the seen before it all went sideways.

Did make me laugh a bit knowing I'm not the only one.

Yeah, speaking with Jim Dugan last year, he told me he has spent half his life on his knees in the shop looking for springs- he found one by accident 7 years after when he was moving a machine! LOL!

i have 100 alpha lrp cases, and 200 srp cases. poor success with the lrp, previously fired, but the srp performed well with 108 eld.(virgin)

i was just hoping to run lapua, but so far this alpha seems ok.

I keep a large heavy ziplock bag in my gun room for just such a thing. Both hands and the part in the bag to disassemble/ reassemble...
Spent enough hours on hands and knees with a magnet for two lifetimes lol

I use a bag that fits right over the whole works...depending on the job it's not always possible but it sure has saved me from losing a pile of small springs and such when it is possible.

What die are you using? I have a Forester but wish now I had bought the Tubb die with its two shoulder/neck bushing for doing either .250 Savage brass or .22-250 brass. I have a bunch of .22-250 Lapua brass, not so much .250 Savage stuff. I think I will just buy the Tubb die and sell the forester one or keep it for a back up. Still not 100% convinced this is a true XC chamber. Sure wish the "Gunsmith" had marked the barrel would have saved a ton of work. But what fun would there be in that?. LOL.

Loaded 50 more rounds for my .223.
Sierra 63 gr. Semi Point, H335, CCI BR4 primers, Remington brass.

Also loaded 100 rounds for the 22-250.
Hornady 55 gr. Ballistic Tip BT over Reloder 15, CCI 200 primers in Lapua brass.

Learned today that neck tension really matters when seating bullets.
Was using new Lapua brass and didn't do anything with the first 50 brass except chamfer the neck mouth. Was getting different seating depths (CBTO) based on tension and after a few I could tell where the length was going to end up. Tighter meant not as deep seating and about 0.010" longer OAL.

The 2nd 50 that I loaded, I ran them through the neck sizer and ended up with more even tension and a very good run of bullet seating.

Faststeel; offer accepted

Two range trips today. 32 full power rounds, loaded fired and extracted smoothly using that 6mmXC die. Still need to trim another 2 thou off the neck (have gone from 14 to 12 now will be down to 10 thou on the neck). Figured out total trim length for brass thanks to my bore camera. Shoulder bump of 2-4 thou. Still need a couple more firings to be sure. Neck tension is heavy but should loosen up a bit with the neck being trimmed. It has been fun project figuring out a totally unknown chamber/cartridge. Learned a lot would do it again!

Trimmed/thinned case necks to 10 thou. Trimmed all cases to ~ 5 thou. less then the chamber, throat junction. Size, prime, load, shoot, tomorrow! May drop a Sightron 4-16 Big sky on it, just to see how she groups.

So I decided to have a look in my match ammo case for one of my LR rigs. Since I had not fired it since May 2022. What I found was 60 fired cases. If I remember correctly, I was in a match. And I just forgot about those dirty cases….until this morning.

Time to de-cap and then into the tumbler.

After drying, time to size.

Now some powder.

And now…the finished product. This is one of my most favourite cartridges, the venerable 6.5x47L.

Cases: Lapua
Bullet: Lapua 139gr Scenar
Primer: CCI BR4
Powder: Varget 38.0gr
CBTO: 2.181” (+.010” jump)
Speed: 2890fps (+15c)
