My best bull to date was in 2009 taken in the 102 and this year took a little 6 point in the mountains.

Hey Gunslinger, I am super proud of him, we hunted as hard as I ever have, even harder than I did before I ended disabled. I never thought I would hunt elk until a friend of mine, with some VERY nice people, shared their info that took years to discover, and I can't thank them enough.

I received a discharge permit for certain situations from F&W, but I did not want to shoot my elk from the truck. Anyways I was able to kill him exactly how I wanted to. We watched him from maybe 3/4 mile a way, bugled back and forth with him, and watched him herd his 5 cows and 4 calves from inside the base and worked the last 1/4 mile to the water hole we were watching. Dad and I could not have had a better night until I nearly messed everything up when the shooting started. But after a sleepless night my bull was lying there.

It is definitely tougher hunting from a wheelchair. I can walk a short distance, like maybe 1/4 mile if pushed, but that is at a very slow speed with two cains. Earlier in my life I would track deer or moose down, now I have to find were they move through, ie paths, between bedding and feeding areas, and set up and wait. I am starting to enjoy the solitude and watching the animals react without knowing I am there.

Somehow next I would like to tackle a cougar hunt. I do not know if it can be done but I would like to look into it. But before that I will go back south to try and find my Dad a bigger bull than I got - can it be done? Wait and see!!

Thanks gunslinger and everyone else who is interested,

Dan.
ps to get the whole story search hunting under Suffield Elk and it is called: Another Suffield Bull down.

pss Sorry to slow the thread down. Now, lets see some BIG ELK !!

Oh this is the most magnificent bull elk iv seen since Mr. Huppertz archery bull.

The tine length is unfathomable, just epic. If i remember correct you didnt post the score? im sure he will gross 400+

The only thing missing is some color in his head bones, its almost like a cake with out the icing. No vibrant ivory tips jumping out at you.

But congrats on a true GIANT sized bull.
