I feel for those poor folks in those newer "California Syle" neighborhoods, with zero space to put all the snow. Over the course of the winter, watching the street get oddly narrower as the winter progresses...
Yup. I use that shovel also

Checking my calendar and see that St. Patrick's day is coming. Reminded me of this. The year was 1998. Nobody on our block could get their vehicles out. We spent the entire day shoveling.

On St. Patrick's Day, nothing was green in Calgary after the city experienced its worst March snowstorm in 113 years. The airport recorded 32 cm of snow, but most other parts of the city received about 40 to 45 cm. Downtown Calgary was a ghost town. Motorists couldn't dig out of their driveways, and the bus system ground to a halt. For the first time ever, the Irish had to cancel St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the city.
It's a waste of time to open the article as I've quoted the only relevant part.

Better article on Press Reader. (I'm unable to quote from Press Reader.)

April 27 1991 Lloydminster recorded 58cm (23 inches) overnight. I remember driving around town when everyone was absolutely buried, in 3 feet of snow. I always thought it would have been an absolute blast to hit every road in town on a really good mountain sled, but have never seen snow like that here again.

If Jasper Ave ever got 3-4' overnight I would buy a sled just for the 1 day.

braaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!
