I can maybe cram 104 litres into my Dodge. Usually get 750 - 800 k's per tank. I figured 12 - 12.5 l/km was pretty good in a larger 4 x 4 but maybe not. That's highway too. combined is right around 13.5L per 100 k's.
Some manufacturers are now putting 130-140l fuel tanks in their pickups.

Yes. I had a 130 in my older F-150. Didn't take me any further than the Dodge Hemi with 104 though. Sure as heck wasn't as quick either.

5.5 ft box.
136 liters

Love the truck, but filling it up from dry is not cheap

Not neccisariky, I have the 5.5’ box with the 36 gal / 136L tank. I get over 700 miles per tank at 70mph. When I get into Canada and do 100-105kmh it gets upwards of 800. I can’t complain and despite what some say, with how many 3.5 Ecoboost Ford has sold, I’d say the reliability is there. Like anything mass produced there will always be x number of lemons. You don’t hear about it as frequently with the other F150 motors since they are outsold what 3:1 or 4:1?

I just bought a new F350 King Ranch for less than the 85K price tag of a F150. Yikes

Price and MSRP are usually very different things. I don't really know why the MSRP is so high and then dealers drop it by $20k, maybe it make the buyer feel like they got a deal, but they do.

You see guys on here all the time boasting about the good deal they got when they get a discount like you mentioned. They actually believe the MSRP and that a dealer would actually give them 20K off..........LOL.

F150s have an optional 136L tank

That is the plan. I have had my 2007 since new, and I replaced the batter after ten years, and the front brakes this year. No other issues at all. Before the Tundra I had 4 GMs and two Fords, and every single one had multiple issues.

Everyone has their own reasons.
But a few are:

-3/4 & 1 tons are BIG, and a pain in the ass to park
-HD trucks (for the most part) ride like a brickhouse compared to 1/2t's
-Getting into a 1ton can be a pain as well.

(I know those are the reason's I would NEVER buy a HD truck unless I absolutely needed it regularly for towing or hauling)

He told me he got 9.5L/100kms on his return trip to Lethbridge locked in at 115. Blew me away to be honest. I wasn't getting a lot better in my BMW sedan...mind you.
That's what I get on long highway trips. Can go a long ways between gas stations. I really like my F150. Does everything I need it to. I do not work it hard and only pull my trailer a half dozen times in the summer and my boat is light (never pull at same time fyi).

You can buy a pretty much loaded Dodge 1500 SLT with the 6' box and the Hemi for $33,000 all in. Brother just bought one on their 30% off sale. I don't care how good the gas mileage is, never going to recover 50 thousand bucks in fuel mileage savings.

Just an example from ST Albert Dodge's website

2017 Ram 1500 ST | Door Crasher Special!

Price Difference$17,065
Internet Price$31,000
Est. Finance $230/2 wks. *

Because the only way they are the same price is if you get an F350 XL with one option box checked, the 6.7L. Would you rather drive around in a base F350 or a Lariat F150? I suspect thats why.

While I do agree there are deals out there. This truck you quoted is an ST, which is a lower trim level, and the truck is almost 2 possibly 3 years old (woundn't be surprised if it was built in 2016). Yes, It's brand new, but with the model change over this year, it is super outdated. I doubt you would get $17000 off a brand new 2019 ram.

Oh, and it's a ram.. Nobody actually wants those..

Think you better check again. Going to check out a crewcab—F350 XLT with all the extras- With the 6.7 Diesel---about $62k with X-plan pricing--$70k MSRP. The F150 babydiesel Lariat is $75k MSRP.

All the Lariat gets you basically is a sunroof and leather---couldn't care less about either

Anytime, I've attached a screen shot from ford.ca. 2018 F150 Lariat Supercrew w/ the 3.0L, starting at $59,049.00. Where the heck are you getting $75k from, King Ranch or Platinum editions?

If I wanted a diesel pick up worth every dollar and that will last pretty much forever.
I'll just leave this here....

Too bad we can't get nice things on this side of the pond.

Don't know about 2019, but it is available on the 2018 SLT because that is what he bought. The ST I posted IS a 2017, and an ST but like I said it was only an example I pulled off the first Dodge dealer site I pulled up. Look around and you can find lots of 2018s for 33K all in. Chevy was just offering a 24% off MSRP deal. If you don't like Dodge or Chev, by all means pay double for the Ford of your choosing.

As far as 2017 or 18 being SUPER OUTDATED, you got to quit buying the car makers' hype. Just how different do you think one pickup is over the next in a matter of a couple of years? Same way Apple gets you to buy the newest Iphone. I am driving a 1996 long box supercab and I can tell you, there isn't a hell pf a lot of difference between it and the ones made today. Still hauls my butt from point A to point B and gets the job done every hunting and fishing season.

My point was NOT about which is the better truck it is about whether the great gas mileage on the new 1/2 ton Diesels will ever pay for the high cost of the trucks they are in.

Well said. my 03 Cummins 5.9HO still gets 10.7L every 100KM with 580,000km on it. Some guys need bright and shiny for their manhood though. Point a to point b is what counts....

Might have a Flames decal on it???

Could be brown? Who knows. Very happy with my 17 Sport loaded outside of airbags, but....I didn't pay for it.

Someone wants to give me a free $ 65,000 sticker price truck in the year it was built I'm not really caring what brand it is. I'll drive it.

It's not as "trucky" as my Ford was but the engine, tranny, and mileage kill the Ford version.

This is not a thread I would normally post in. But here's my take.
First mini diesel is marketing, pull as much as you want with a 1/2 ton, you still need to stop it. You pay more up front diesel is more expensive and maintenance is more expensive.

2nd all truck sales with fancy trim packages is marketing. If you want a nice riding vehicle, that's got a fancy trim package and gets good fuel mileage. You don't want a truck.

But hey this is coming from a guy who has a rubber floor and manual windows in his truck and drives a 08 focus for 50,000km a year.
My vehicles are tools.
Each to their own.
