I wouldn't burn down Rogers. That place would make a great Porsche dealership.....

I guess I didn't cheer hard enough. 2 quick goals took all the life out of the building. Bouchard's worst game this year. Draisaitl looked tired or disinterested. They have definitely loss some of their mojo on the Power Play.

Oh well, at least the tickets were cheap

Was pretty quiet there tonight. You couldn’t get anything going with the fans? Did you even try?
Wait!
Don’t answer that…..
I’ve had as much disappointment I can handle this week.

The Oilers had it too easy so far this season. They seemed to be winning too easily. I loved watching them win but I knew eventually there was going to come a point that they were going to get knocked down a few pegs.

Now we get to see how they react to adversity and how quickly they can bounce back.

I thought the oilers outplayed them tonight. Especially 5 on 5.
Talbot was on point. We outshot them. Had more grade A chances, dominated the face off, had no puck luck, but overall Edmonton played the better game. Sometimes the puck just don’t find the back of the net. Oh well. It will turn around. No need to panic yet.

That’s what I thought as well.

I saw a news clip tonight with Kassian commenting on the game. It went something like this:

Sometimes you play like S*** and end up winning and other times you play great and end up losing.

Not a good week for hockey fans in Alberta 5 straight losses between the Oilers and Flames, pretty quiet on the flames thread, last post was 2 days ago maybe they still haven't got over the Stamps loss ??

I as describing this game as the same as the Flames first few games. Fire everything you can at the net, from every angle, and home it goes in. Passes weren't connecting, especially stretch passes from the D. Several unforced icings on terrible passes. There was literally no fore check and the 1 turn over we did create resulted in a goal by pool party.

The shot clock certainly was not a reflection of game last night.

I’m all for trying the 9th different coach in 10 years. Hire one that has coached a team passed the first round. Like maybe Ken Hitch… er never mind…

OMG it's three game slump. All teams go through them.

Record is still 16-9, still firmly in a playoff position, have 2 of the best players on the planet, still playing with 3 of their experienced D-men on the shelf.

Played much better last night, especially in the second period, but no puck luck. Some rookie mistakes on the back end but that is what you get when you are playing 3 rookies on the back end.

Goal tending has come back to earth, not bad just not good enough and have been out dueled the last few games.

Power play needs to freshen up a bit, they have become a bit predictable. I would like to see Bouchard anchoring the PP as he has the best hands when it comes to passing and actually has a boomer from the point to add a layer. Having that big shot from the point brings the defending forwards up and opens up some seams. Right now the D collapses down and cuts off the cross seam pass. Need that threat of a big point shot.

I don't think we can under estimate the impact of players like Ceci and Keith. Have been pretty impressed with Neimalinan (sp?) as a rookie. Big, long D-man with a nasty streak and hits hard. Keep it up like that and learn from Nurse, Keith, Cesi on positioning and I think we have a good player.

I just don't see it as all doom and gloom. Learn from last nights game and come out hard against Boston tomorrow.

They usually don’t do to well during the homestands just before Christmas seems like lol. Need to get the veteran D back and Smith in goal.
The Foegel trade isn’t working out too well with Bear a #1 defencemen in Carolina, he would sure come in handy right now. Seems like the Oilers are where 3 and 4 liners go to end their careers in this league these days. It’s like a black hole. Even players with outstanding stats elsewhere seem to sputter out in that 3-4 line abyss

Default I wonder how the 'experts' from calgary will spin this bit of info

https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/oilers-w...rbes-1.5699252

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers are now the seventh most valuable team in the NHL after doubling in estimated worth in just one year, according to a Wednesday report by Forbes.
The Oilers franchise – that was bought by billionaire Daryl Katz for $200 million in 2008 – is now valued at $1.1 billion, Forbes calculates.
"The biggest rise in these valuations belongs to the Oilers, who doubled in value from last season’s ranking, to $1.1 billion," Forbes' Mike Ozanian wrote.

"We now believe that we were short-changing them on revenue in the past and have verified that the team ranks in the top quartile in the NHL in every important revenue category, including local media, where they are in the top five."

The other NHL team in Alberta, the calgary flames ranked 18th, worth $680 million.

Meh, couldn't care less actually. I'm not in the market to buy a franchise and I doubt anyone else on here is either. Likely has a lot to do with the new arena while Calgary at this point has the oldest one in the NHL. That'll cycle around though. Really nothing to do with the hockey teams at all.
Grab what you can I guess.

If Katz would take a down payment in Canadian Tire money and A&W coupons, I'd be all over buying the Oilers. Seriously.

First thing I'd do is try and get Neal and Hall back. And Eberle. And Lucic.
