I disagree. He’s just in a funk. He’s going to be a star player for up to 15 more years. If there was an inkling of injury he’d be taking it easy healing. Even oil management isn’t that crazy.

This is more accurate. Being on a pp with what the hockey community refers to as the dynamic duo is going to escalate your game and stats. No dynamic duo on the flames roster to play beside so in turn his game suffered.

Only if he's playing with McDavid and Leon. I think the rest of the team could go on waivers and only a handful would get picked up.

Didn't see the game as was driving, so can't comment as a viewer, but I was listening on Satelite. Sounded like Pittsburgh players were pizzed that Smith not called in OT for playing puck outside his designated area.
Annoying how all over the place the refs are. I'm guessing you brought this up as maybe Pitts got away with something? Guess as long as evens out.

Best gold is two of the worst players for the Oilers last year actually making Cgy's lineup this year

Take the exact same thing I said but switch the teams, ohh burn!
Looch was 6th in forwards scoring on the Oil last year.

I'm not saying he's making the All Star team, just some of your fans..... Looch was one of the "worst" player on the Oilers last year?!? He's got the same amount of points as Larsson, Persson, Archibald, Russell, Sheahan, Gagner, Granlund, and Khaira combined, but Looch was one of the worst? I thought the reason you didn't make the playoffs was Reider?

Well when you consider his contract totals all those players combined..... ya, we weren’t happy with him. At all. Lol

Burn? The only burn here is 11 goals vs 0 and a non boat anchor contract, if and when the Oilers should decide to move on, which of course at this point would be rather silly yes? Safe to say both of these players didn't fit their former teams from the contributions side. One still doesn't.
Pretty hard to give credence to opinions from someone touting the value of Monahan over Draisaitl a year ago anyways.

Draisaitl can skate too. Heard he came in a little leaner. McDavid is probably just in a lull. I did not see that Cave goal coming. He had lots of chances last year just couldn't put it in the net. Young Bear did ok against some talent. What a game for Smith. Way too many shots though.

It’s great that they are winning but it’s either McJesus and the German Disciple doing it all or now a tender that steals a game with an embarrassing amount of shots against him. This isn’t the best game play model for an 82 game season. It’s a marathon and they are playing like it’s a 40 game sprint. This tank will empty...

Feel free to post a link to me stating Monahan is a better player than Draisaitl.

This year, the salary cap did not rise as much as was hoped for by many teams.
There are a lot of teams up against the cap and some creative roster moves were/are/will be required.
The Flames were looking at trading a player like Brodie at a discount in order to get the cap space needed to sign Tkachuk.
The salary that the Oilers retained in the Neal/Lucic trade gave the Flames the wiggle room to sign Tkachuk without giving up a core player.
Neal and Lucic are both in decline, but IMO, there was a stronger possibility that Neal would rebound somewhat from his poor performance last year.
Treliving has made several poor free agent signings that have hindered the Flames. The Neal signing may be the worst.

Flamers have actually played more games than any other team....maybe they're just really tired 5 more than a couple of them
