Hope Mario is a guide because I am sure he could not eat that many geese that fast.

I have never been on a real goose hunt, but I would love to learn more about it and to try it.

I have a 20 gauge, but will be getting a 12 gauge soon. There are very few places to hunt geese that I know of right by where I live, and I am somewhat reluctant to invest in decoys until I know if I will like it. Heck, I am not even sure I've tasted wild goose before!

What kind of advice would y'all have for a newbie like me? Much appreciated!

The very best advice I can give you is to try and hook up with a waterfowl hunter on here that can take you out so you can try it to see if is for you!
It is exciting for sure, but one can invest a large amount of cash at times without needing to , and knowing what you need to buy for your area is key.

If you ever decide to come north, happy to take you out and you can see for yourself, don't need to bring anything except your licence

We are off to Saskatoon tomorrow, for a week of goose and duck hunting.According to our host, who is one of the larger outfitters there, the northern birds just started arriving in big numbers this week. According to him, the last week has been the best week of the season so far.

Don't usually see bigger numbers for Canadas til now, in the areas south of RD. This weather should give them the push. Certainly will push the snows and specks out, if most of them hadn't already gone. It's just that time of the year.

Typical outfitter speak....lol. I have used that line more times than I want to admit.

In this case he is likely right! Lol

Good luck man!!

We didn't hire him, he is the brother of a good friend that invited myself and a couple of other friends to hunt with the outfitter, his guides, and family and friends. The outfitter puts on this hunt every year, and I was lucky enough to get invited.

Had a morning shoot near Saskatoon, and the geese haven't all flown South. We saw thousands but only one flock came into our decoys. Three of us took seven geese , best of all, our first timer folded two geese with three shots. The snowstorm that we hunted in this morning finally ended, and hopefully tomorrow will have more birds over our decoys. We took seven geese with eight shots with 3" Fasteel, so high dollar 3-1/2" loads aren"t necessary.

Good grief I saw about 5000 birds between whitecourt and edmonton today. All in big flocks, and all very high up.

I live in SE Sask and have been getting some great hunts in for the last 2 weeks. Lots of snows and canadas and any amount of ducks . We are going to hunt a pea field this weekend that i have been watching and letting build it had about 2000 greenheads on it this morning. It seems like everyday there are more birds moving in to the area.

I AM NOT GOING TO COMPLAIN
