That's really somethin, having a badger bury a deer! Thanks for sharing that.
Looks like I'll be pulling snares up out of the snow today.

Mark, I just click on the paper clip attachment symbol. Browse your pics...upload and submit reply. Don't know how everyone else posts pics that you don't have to click on to see.

Nice pics Brag. I got some good mud tires on and have no issues getting around in the fields still. Got 4 yotes today and one real nice one. Forgot the camera again of course. I am headed to the line this week and should get some pics soon.

Great pictures and descriptions fellas! I've never seen anything like what that badger did with that deer. It's interesting to see the difference in the coyotes from the north and the ones from the south as well.

Good day on the line
Had a couple new trapping partners out yesterday on the line. The neighbour boys checked out the trapper rendezvous this year and wanted to see how it's all done. Got to see some elk and moose as well as pointing out all the lynx and marten tracks.
Oh I probably could have got more marten sets out if I was by myself and my backup sled certainly wouldn't have been tipped on it side nearly as much as it was but we all had a great time. They were up and going at 6 a.m. and lasted right until 2 in the afternoon when their feet started to get a little too cold.
Hope everybody is having a good year out there so far. I'll be finished setting everything next week, looking forward to another great season.
Here's a couple pics of the day, and one of the boy from last week with the deer we took on the final day of the season.

I don't know Halfords but I have to go there this morning and I'll check. At the ATA in Westlock it's December 15 for both NAFA and FH.

Getting ready to take some fur into the ATA. I'm pretty happy with the quality of coyotes that I caught since November 10th, only two weren't worth turning in. This being my first season trapping I thought that I'd catch a lot more pups but out of the 20 that I'm turning in, 15 are 2XL and only 3 are M-SM.....not what I expected but I definitely won't complain.
Biggest coyote on the far right is approx 50" nose to the base of the tail.

Looks good Dave, those little hooks have sure come in handy eh! Have you snared all your coyotes? I just put out my baits yesterday after receiving permission. Might be hard to find the trails with this warm weather. Plan on putting out snares Saturday when I rebait. I also have some coil springs coming in tomorrow that are going onto a new property Saturday. I bought some boards and "rat traps" today to make weasel boxes. Pretty excited to have it all set up for xmas holidays when I get 12 days off.

very nice looking coyotes HD. you certainly have put alot of effort and love in to your put up. nicely done!
for what its worth. pretty sure, coyotes are measured from between the ears to the base of the tail. nothing above the ears counts, or the tail. only the useable portion of the hide.
beaver is over stretched. the white is dead give away.damaged.

Thank you. I was going by my memory, which isn't always good, with the measuring of the coyotes. I checked the NAFA pelt handling manual to confirm but I didn't see it in there. I'm going to have to look into that one once I have time.
The white on the beaver are marks from a one handed scraper that I used the day after I boarded it to take off fat that I didn't get when I fleshed it. I don't know how it'll grade because of it but I couldn't stand seeing bubbles of fat on the leather. Hopefully the grader will figure it out and not ding me too badly for it. It's the first beaver that I have put up that I didn't put a hole in so I hope that it grades well. Regardless, I'll learn from how it's graded and adjust for the next one if need be.

It shows white because the skin has not totally dried yet. I doubt it will be graded damaged because of this. But, it definitely may have been if the fat had been left on. I also do not see any evidence of over stretching; pulled over nails or ripped pelt edges.

Great photos guys. love the sled load of yotes braggadoe.
Good looking batch of coyotes hunterdave!
I'm looking like i'l have about 11 of my coyotes ready to go, the rest will have to wait.
I caught my first mink today! saw some mink tunnels in the snow by a small lake last week so i went back and set two 110's as blind sets on wednesday. Checked today and bingo! had one in the first trap.

I was a little skeptical on posting this but here goes. So I set new snares out 3 days ago, figured I'd stay away for a few days like some guys recommended and this is what I came to today.

That seems a little odd to me. I usually don't have coyotes eating other coyotes until it is very cold. It could be that some were with this one when he got caught and they got excited.
Or was it wolves?
