If he is standing at 5 feet tall that bow is 5 feet as well. I say its not 500lbs

I saw a picture of the one this man is talking about from a fellow operator who lives in Dawsons Creek. The story I was told was that the cougar was shot on Bear Mountain, south of Pouce Coupe/Dawson Creek, and that they estimated it to weigh 270ish pounds. It was a very big animal in the photo and I personally don't think they're exaggerating that much. No way it's 500lbs though.

Actually I shot that cat in Alberta! It weighed 223 pounds. Its all in the story with the link attachement!

yeah, by "standing" i just meant he was positioned 5 feet behind the cat, not literally standing

The largest of large male Lions are around 500 lbs. This is also the size of mature Tigers, the largest cat. A 500 lb Mountain Lion would be akin to catching a 50 lb coho, just not gonna happen.

Big cat no doubt, but everybodies got the cameras figured out to do this. I don't trust any pictures anymore, fisherman are even worse. For those that don't know, set your camera at it's lowest magnification setting and hold the fish out or in the case of an animal sit a few feet back. It's so predictable it's boring already. Would be nice to get a true comparison with something but the fad shows no sign of letting up.

Metric Mis-calculation
Guys, I do not believe for a minute it was a 500 pound cougar. My guess is the story stated out at 270 pounds some one reported it in kilograms then multiplied it times 2.2 to get the 500 pound impossible cougar.
