Tougher gun laws are a joke.. Why punish responsible gun owners... Criminals that have guns or are around guns arnt buying them or owning them legally anyway. Just because they are changing laws or making them different doesn't mean they won't break them.. It just affects the people that actually follow the laws..

O for sure go ahead and steal my private property from me whats the worst that could happen?
That would be completely reasonable and rational?
It always turns out well for populations that are disarmed by there goverment and there is definatly no long repeated history of anything terrible happening to citizens who suffer under such oppressive conditions.
Being ruled by fear of prosecution definaltly sounds great.so glad i do not have children.
Best be building prisons and hiring prosecuters when they try to pull that sh¡£

new gun laws are only enforceable if the gun owners give into it .. the gun registry was a joke . many rifles where not registered. if all gun owners united then you could fight it . but most are sheep ...

So, you agree this the first bolded sentence in your link. I'm well aware of the Liberal firearms policy and they want Aussie gun control in Canada. I think that you'd better read your own link and try to understand what is written, particularly in that first bolded sentence.

Wow way to color everyone the same! I aka Union member and work for a municipality! You can go pound sand for your comment that all unions support orange. Not even close to true! Most guys I work with are outdoorsmen and would never vote socialist. So I work 48 hrs a week and I'm a freeloader!! Great analogy pal!!

The province did not truly vote NDP, the NDP knows this and is trying to get through the next 3 years without roughling feathers.
What if I'm from the West?

If all firearms owners would stick together to resist the stupid firearms laws that exist, and that the Liberals try to draft into law, we might have a chance, but reading the posts on this thread, that won't happen. Given that some of our own AO members have bought into the antigun nonsense, it won't be long before we have Australian type firearms laws in Alberta if the Liberals are elected.

Honestly? I'm not sure. I guess the penalty might be a factor. Also not sure about hiding a firearm I can't use and risking arrest. If they made semi-auto shotguns illegal I wouldn't be taking it out goose hunting, so I would question what I have it hidden in the rafters for.

I am not sure what I fear more...four years of smug posts if the ritcheous right wins government, or four years of fear mongering if centerists win. With either scenario, I have no fear of losing my guns.

Personally I think I'd rather have 4 more years of smug right wing supporter posts than the next 4 years of blaming everything on Harper / Mulroney / Harris / Klein by the far left. Either way, I hope you're right about the guns.

I'm not defending the Libs, but where does it say that they will start a new registry???

In fact, the second last line of their gun policy says the exact opposite.

My Son is an LEO, he tells me that the rank and file are worried about this too, he said that there are members of various police forces that still believe that the only people who should own firearms are the police and the military..but will these guys back the gov't or help the "law abiding citizen" against wrong laws?

Mac, you havent been listening to Shiny Pony have you?
Huff post Oct 19th. 2015.
Trudeau explained that he hadn't actually flip-flopped on the gun registry. In fact, he said, he always supported it, and still does support it in principle. But he said that now that it's gone it's too divisive to try bringing back.

In the next breath, however, Trudeau added that he supports Quebec's effort to bring it back in that province because he said the measure is not controversial there.

Finally, he offered his explanation of how the long-gun registry fits into his definition of a "failed" public policy.

"I voted to keep the firearms registry a few months ago and if we had a vote tomorrow I would vote once again to keep the long-gun registry," Trudeau told reporters.

This will be the interesting part of any bans or confiscations. Of course there will be those who fall over themselves giving up their guns, but there is also the other end of the spectrum.

I think we'd soon learn the appetite of the Canadian public to seeing tactical teams breaking doors down and confiscating property at gunpoint. We'd also learn the appetite of the rank and file for putting their lives in extreme danger to try and disarm people with equal or better equipment than them.

I'd like to say that I believe most police would stand up against unjust laws and refuse to rob their fellow citizens, but I think everyone knows most would go along with it for either money or their foolish belief that only they should be able to protect themselves with a firearm.

It's a bit satisfying to see that only 6% or so of the respondents so far are spineless. Gives me a bit of faith in gun owners. Unfortunately, those 6% would probably also inform on the 86% who wouldn't roll over for the government.

I've never voted liberal, and I never will. And you can take that to the bank!

All I did (in post #50) was to point out a contradiction. If you guys want to get your knickers in a knot about it ... fill yer boots!

Mind you, it's one thing to state your stance on an internet forum, but it's a different story when the knock is on your door and you have to decide right then and there whether it's a hill you and your loved ones are going to die on.

And of course, the media/social media would paint all "resistors" as unstable threats to society. Good luck keeping/finding a job after that happens.
