Accuracy and control wins over distance everytime.

Distance may look somewhat impressive, without accuracy and control it's worth nothing.

It takes rod, line and a caster to perform all three, each is interesting in its own way. One day I hope I'll somewhat get a hang of all three and be able to combine them in a single cast.

Nope. Line weight, rod length, no matter...just learn how to cast.

Given proper equipment, the secret to long casts is practice to get timing correct and a good double haul... and more practice.

I can cast just fine for my needs, thank you. It don't hurt to get better at something you enjoy doing. Must be boring knowing everything on the topic.
