Not ousted!
When I read the link provided I read:
The Law Enforcement Review board said Furlong
should be allowed to go back to work.
That there was no evidence that Furlong's character was so flawed that he was not fit to continue as a police officer.
Furlong had no complaints from the public
Furlong had been an
outstanding officer for seven years
At the time of that article Furlong was
still a member of the EPS and but he was suspended til the matter is concluded.
The most negative thing I read is that Furlong has admitted to a problem with booze and has taken steps to correct it.
Now I don't know about you guys, but I know of many gun owners that have had problems with booze and no one has taken away their guns. I know of several Police officers who also had problems with booze and have taken steps to overcome and still have their jobs. I also know of at least one teacher who admitted and corrected a booze problem and still teaches.
I know and have read about many people from all walks of life that have overcome faults and have went on to respectable productive lives. The system is not about double standards but innocent til proven guilty and then an opportunity to heal and move on.
