We did have two loops set up after our June shoot. Unfortunately somebody or parties of Shooters have been out around the courses shooting crossbows bolts and blowing right through our targets destroying them. To save our Rhinehart targets and the club money we had to remove our smaller targets, unless someone has been stealing targets as we've had a break-in this summer and some equipment stolen.
Even with signs posted around the loops and club grounds, no crossbows people are still shooting them. I have recovered one bolt myself that's passed through a target, pink in colour.
There will be two complete loops setup for the Hunter Shoot.

Sorry to hear there are those who are disrespecting the range and ruining things for others! Really looking forward to the shoot you guys always do a heck of a job. I am planning on becoming a member of the range this coming January. I sure hate hearing that folks choose to disregard rules and ruin the enjoyment of others...seems to happen everywhere.

That is crappy to here. I too am going to join in January. Luckily i can get there in no time from Far north edmonton.
Curious..... as ive never been to a 3D shoot or any archery shoot .... what gear does one bring other than the obvious? I picked up a camo BadLands hip quiver with pouches for binos...range finder..and what ever else. Ive pics of lefty at shoots with things hanging off his quiver.
Since this is a Hunter shoot.. do people shoot with bow quivers on? Or do most take them off like i sed of pics at 3D shootz? Dont know if thats a stupid question either lol

Binos (for this one rangefinder), hip quiver, water, arrows, some tools...spare d-loop, granola bar or two.
Personal choice to have your quiver on or off the bow...for me it's off. The things I have are a clipboard for score cards (I usually score, because most people don't like doing it!) some pictures of the Rhinehart target (got it at the mother) and an arrow puller and arrow lube tube.

You'll do just fine shooting anywhere near that good. Remember to bring a thermacell or repellant. Nothing worse than just about to shoot an a mosquito lands on your eye lid

Mike is this the picture where we had to remove my arrow from in between your two (dead center of the heart) to get the picture of only your arrows?

Neil you should make the trip out for this shoot! A fun shoot with a great bunch of good folks. Looks like there is going to be quite a first first time 3d'ers there....hopefully that means the field will grow for next year!

Everything is a go this Saturday. Greg was out with his crew and both loops have been set up with 25 targets. Should be a challenging shoot for some.
The weather is supposedly going to cooperate for us, partly cloudy with a high of 16*C. Not to hot not to cold, just right for hunting weather.

Bring cash....likely there will be some draws and other odds and ends....sometimes they set up a "swap table" for folks who want to sell things they no longer need.

I'll raise my hand as someone who knows next to nothing about archery, but that just kinda gives me a mental picture of spandex for some reason.

Ya was an awesome day!. Before the word gets around... yes.. I Did.... dry fire my bow like an idiot... blew the string up and it came back and cut open my wrist and back of hand
Was distracted in talks with our group on a kill zone and was focusing on the spot as i walked to the shooting spike. Dumb dumb dumb
Walked the rest of the course and enjoyed watching the other guys of my group finish.

It happens more often than many would like to admit...just glad you weren't more seriously hurt and also glad that the bow survived.
Once you do a few more shoots you will figure out your own routine, you will notice one of the first things I try to do after I have glassed the target is nock an arrow.
For a first timer you were shooting quite well!

That's going to be tender for a bit! I've seen a few dry fires and it's usually thinking there's an arrow on the string then the pieces fly. Hope you have time to get it back shooting like ya did before the season opens.
