Lol. Ain't that the truth. If someone thought they were the last person on earth the best way to prove it is launch a boat and cast a line. Within seconds the other last person on earth will come out of the trees...launch a boat...paddle over and park within casting distance. All the while pretending you are not there
So true HaHa.
So as to the OP. Good fishermen watch what others are doing and learn something to help their skill. Sometimes it is watching what they are doing wrong so as to not copy the mistake.
However the best teacher is someone's else's success.
It is also flattering to have someone recognize your skill and ask for help. Most are shy so just watch.
I remember fishing bear pond and catching a ton. Next time out nothing. Frustrating someone else was slaying them. Refused to give any help. After observing noticed they were fishing a shallow chartreuse chironimid. I had some small chartreuse flies that worked fine for the rest of the day.
So yes. I watch. I observe. I copy. I modify. I improve as much as possible.
I scratch my head if someone doesn't.
Knowing how deep the water is where someone is catching is important. As is the depth of the water, fishing method, hook type, retrieve style and speed,
Watching happy with binoculars getting beat up is all I need binoculars for. For everything else you can swing by. Find out the info then Find your own spot unless you make a friend and they want company.
