My negative feelings about Lady Gaga asside, how ironic is it that in the same year that her blatantly sexual song "Disco stick" becomes a hit they censor the word F@got out of the comparitively tame "Money for Nothing" by the Dire Straits.

This is possibly even more ironic when MTV banned Primus' anti drug song "Laqure Head" while Third Eye Blind topped the charts by happily singing songs about losing your whole life to crystal meth.

Default Hello, sorry this thread is a day old

Sorry for not responding to this thread earlier guys, I was on a forced sabbatical...

Anyways I saw her I also loved her performance at the MMVAs, she was amazing! It always overwhelms me how she can perform so well. I liked all the blue hair, she's as free as her hair all right!

If any of you guys were following her recently you would have heard her speech on ARizona's new illegal immigration laws. While I don't agree with her, it brought tears to my eyes (not quite to my cheeks, however). It's difficult sometimes when one's idol takes a different viewpoint than you. I used to be concerned she would speak out on gun violence and advocate firearms laws. I would be in a state of confusion if that occurred, I'd have no clue as to what to do...I don't think it's an issue for her though. Anyways, as she says I am as free as my hair and can have my own opinions, that's one of the great things about this country and about Gaga, she encourages one to have one's own opinions.

I'm a bit ticked off at Interscope records, while I pre-ordered Born THis Way, I never knew until recently that it was possible to get a Little Monster ID Card, which would be so cool to have, with one's photo and name on it, like a drivers licence but less useful. Such a card was not included in my pre-ordered special edition, note to self, don't pre-order Gaga albums.

In other news I'm looking to add something semi to my collection I only have bolt actions and pumps (apart from handguns obviously) and I want a semi-automatic rifle, I'm looking at a Type 56 SKS because it's cheap and I won't spend money on an SKS, or a Norinco M14 because it's cheap and has a 5100 steel receiver.

But I'm glad there are other fans of Gaga here I know some of you don't like her but that's your opinion, you are entitled to have your own opinions, as she say, Be who you wanna be!

Ahahah! She never released any such song, the song you are referring to is called LoveGAme, and disco stick is not an offensively offensive word. By that I mean it doesn't target a minority group. The word in the dire straights song is an offensive word that TARGETs a certain group. I agree it shouldn't have been banned. Radio stations played it anyways in protest!

Quote:
she is absolutley terrible as far as talent goes, shes pretty ugly to. another fabricated pop star of little actual talent being force fed to the masses through the media mainstream.
YOU ARE WRONG! I never watched any mainstream entertainment stuff, I hated it and to an extent still do! So that FORCE FED hypothesis does not apply!

I heard her song Bad Romance playing at a gym and I looked it up online because I liked it, got hooked! So there was nothing FORCE FED about it!

She is also very talented was accepted to a *division* of Julliard. If you don't think she's a great vocalist in terms of technical skill you are wrong. WHether you like how she puts that talent to use is your own opinion.

Cheers, you are entitled to your own opinion.

Quote:
Just watch a clip of GaGa on awards last night just a warmed over Madonna that can't sing
What are you talking about, she has a fantastic voice! You are ridiculous. Tinnitus problems? Should have worn hearing protection. That ringing isn't Gaga, it's your ears.

Quote:
Obviously SOME people like her or else she wouldn't be so successful.

I agree, though. Not my thing.
Yes, some people do, like over 10 million of her followers! Woot!

Quote:
She lives life on her terms and speaks her mind. Kind of like the "stereotypical" Albertan. The one big difference being that she doesn't think that she's carrying the world on her shoulders! While there is a definite resemblance to Madonna, IMO she is a musical and theatrical genius in her own right!
Yes, she certainly does! People only compare her to Madonna because they were both ground-breaking and talented! Gaga is a better live singer though, so there!

[quote]I noticed "Bob" was suspended....not sure for how long but one thing I am sure of......we will hear ad nauseum about her performance when he is back......[/quote[

Yes, I'm back, but I don't think members here want to hear about her performance.
However, since this is a Gaga thread I am free to post about her!

Quote:
I like a few of her songs, her tailor must be blind though.

Atta boy Bob!
Thank you. I like her tailor. Did you see the funny photo of her and the Egyptians?

Quote:
Definitely an early Madonna way of life. As for as a musical and theatrical genius its easy when you have someone to copy.
They are both successful. I bet next you are going to say Pavarotti was a direct rip-off of Caruso. Ridiculous.
Gaga and Madonna's music sound nothing alike.
Plus Gaga is much nicer.

Quote:
The biggeset impression Bob made was not a good one, I don't think it had anything tpo do with his infatuation with the singer!
Cat
It had to do with my thread that was labeled as offensive!

Quote:
Did you watch Pinks live performance of Glitter in the air at the Grammys? Amazing to watch and listen.
You make fun of me for liking Gaga and you like PINK? Oh man. I hate her music, it's so girly. Like romantic films, Ugh.

Quote:
Pinks? Oh YEAH! I loved it when that little Pinto hole shotted the NovaSS - OH??!! WAITAMINIT!! DIFFERENT Pinks......
Cat
Lol saw that one.

Well WWE make millions every year to only goes to prove the old adage "THERE"S A SUCKER BORN EVERY DAY"
Yeah, what's your birthday?

Quote:
Well maybe to you and millions of other s she can’t sing but she dose have a following and I give her credit she is making money while the getting is good.
make the cash and save it.
Like I said, he must have tinnitus. She is an amazing vocalist. Critics note that in all reviews. I note that every day when I listen.
He's either flaming or deaf.

Quote:
I am a Gaga fan (and I typically can't stand most pop music) She is a talented underdog. Let's hope she keeps it interesting and doesn't go off the rails (on the crazy train).
Woot woot! Paws up! ('') ('') I thought there weren't any other Monsters here!

Did you get your Little Monster card with the special edition of Born This Way? I pre-ordered and it came without the card (sad) so I had to buy two copies, one at the store.

Quote:
I'd say she has been stuck on it for a long time now....
She's as free as her hair...

Quote:
I don't see myself ever buying any of her product or attending a concert, but I like some of her stuff.
Yay, another appreciator!

Quote:
I'm not really a fan and have never paid much attention to her before until I watched her Monster Ball on HBO. She might be out there but she's certainly talented and she entertains her crowds. I can respect a true artist that doesn't need studio enhancements as is the norm for many of today's artists. Gaga has a fantastic voice live or recorded and I can appreciate that even though she isn't someone I'd typically listen to. She's had Liza Minnelli see her in concert and I would bet Liza isn't prone to attend concerts of someone like Brittney Spears. She is constantly compared to Madonna but IMO she's definitely her own person, both are iconic artists in their own right.
Yay, another outdoorsmen who is understanding! She is very talented.

She also made a new country song "You and I". Maybe reticent members would find that acceptable to listen to.

Anyways, love this forum, it is actually very accepting and warm compared to larger forums.

Paws up guys! ('') ('')

Oh yeah, the Harper government says it will repeal the long gun registry that is not enough the Convservatives made a PROMISE to repeal C-68 in its entirety!

Write a letter! We need C-68 to get repealed before the Conservative's 4 years is up! What if the NDP win! Jack Layton has said Guns should be stored at ranges, not at one's OWN HOUSE! He has also said he would ban handguns and all semi-automatic arms!

We need C-68 repealed. Right now police can enter your house without a warrant, and you have no right to remain silent if they ask you where your guns are!

Paws up! ('') ('')

Sorry, I've been away a long time....

Wow!

Here I thought getting an RPAL was tough. Can't screen 'em all I suppose.

Bob, if the CFO sees this, I'd be getting ready for a visit........

Are you insinuating I'm....off my rocker?

I've actually never had a visit from the firearms officers...good thing, too.

NOW you will.

I don't have to insinuate anything. It reads pretty clear to me.

Well, if you think I'm crazy because I enjoy her music, I guess the people who made her the number one earner in the world (70 million dollars in one year) are all crazy too.

I want an SKS, but then I can't get an M14. But .308 costs more to feed...

Hello chubb.

Yes, I suspect burrotrader may have started this thread anticipating a response from me.

Luckily I had been forced to "take a vacation", so my anger at bactriantrader's comments about a "warmed-over Madonna" was allowed to simmer and cool for a couple days.

She has a great, strong, powerful, soaring alto.

That is not up for debate.

In other nes, you guys remember my review of the Born This Way album?

I've changed it. THe more you listen, the more you like. Now I like every song very much so, except Fashion of his Love, which I like medium amount.

It is said one has to taste a new food 7 times before you like it.
I hypothesise that the same holds true for music.

And tasting and spitting out does not count as tasting!
