Pretty sad state of affairs when our own military is unable to defend ourselves from balloons. What if it were a missile or squadron of jets sent to destroy some of our infastructure. If we were not living next door to the US whatever would we do, we are a country pretty much unable to defend ourselves in any meaningful way from even the smallest threat.

The WEF and globalists probably think that it's a great thing , they don't want any resistance, when they take over our country.

Queue the people who will send up balloon clusters in order to see if a jet fighter will shoot it down.......

Default These balloons?

Have they been doing this for some time? Is this new? Any idea what they are looking for?

What can they see with a balloon that a curious tourist couldn't discover?

What level of technology is attached to these balloons?

Scrambling US jets to shoot down a balloon seems a bit much, of course unless there is lots that they are not telling us.

Do we know where they are coming from and do they pose any threat?

Now a fourth "object" shot down over Lake Huron - after the air space was closed a few hours earlier.

They have also closed off some airspace over Montana as well (just announced as well) - so maybe the Chinese are sending over a fleet of balloons all over the world as a sign of peace and goodwill to all mankind.

Post is right on the mark. The WEF, CCP, and their bought off socialist politicians are trying to destroy anything that would make us identify as Canadian. With no identity we easily become a post national country that will fall into the CCP led Marxist global order. Thank Trudeau, Notley, Freeland and anyone still supporting the leftist globalist parties.

It's political to make the US look weak to other world leaders. They could also be collecting surveillance for possible invasion and easiest route to get CCP soldiers on Canadian soil. Although I believe that's a complete suicide mission for the Chinese.

Lastly, it could also be a distraction for their bought and paid for politicians to look "tough" on China. Tiananmen Trudeau and China Joe both have ties to CCP money.

Thing is China has over 300 satellites I can guarantee you they can read the names on tombstones from Outerspace easily. same as Russia actually. They don't need balloons.

It's my understanding the balloons were used to pick up military communications and geo locate communication sites.

The first of these things was discovered and shot down @ 60,000 feet, the other three operated at commercial aircraft altitude (40000 feet IIRC).

“Low Earth Orbit” where most satellites operate, ranges between 160kms 525000 feet to 2000kms 6.5 million feet.

Thats a huge difference and advantage in proximity and clarity when your looking to spy on terrain and infrastructure from above.

Creeky....

Why waste a Sidewinder on a balloon? Bullets would be just fine I'm sure. Here's a thought maybe they loaded some mega-bad virus on these balloons as well as spy gear, although I'll bet these latest ballons don't have the same tech as loaded on to the one the ccp didn't want diaper joe to shoot down over dry land. Just weather balloon decoys, "See they're the good guys".

I don't know if this is "the ability" to shoot them down as opposed to scrambling fighters from the closest "proximity" based on the NORAD response protocols. Shooting down a slow moving, almost static target at 40,000-60,000 is pretty straight forward. The same missiles the US used are the same ones we carry on our fighters. Same thing goes for the guidance systems used to target this balloon. All basic stuff at that altitude. We can certainly shoot it down when and if we had to.

Having NORAD in place is the reason they (the US) shot it down.

US fighters operating out of the US base in Anchorage were hundreds of miles closer as opposed to our assets in Cold Lake and could go in, shoot it down, and return without refueling.

For us to scramble our planes, they likely would have had to refuel in the air as there is almost nothing up there except for some refueling planes stationed in the Yukon for such instances but no fighters based on what I was reading.

I'm guessing it was just easier to work with the US to address this threat.

A year or two ago, it was Canadian jets intercepting a Russian plane which was toying around up around Alaska when the 2 US interceptors were unable to be scrambled (also under NORAD protocols). They flew from Cold Lake, intercepted the Russian plane, took fuel from the US support plane, and maintained surveillance until the US jets were able to be scrambled. I guess it was a rare instance of bad timing for the US, likely, but not confirmed, a maintenance issue with their ground support assets and it was one of those situations were we cover each others behinds when we know one country or the other is down for a period of time.

But yes, I agree, we don't have enough assets (or the budget) but I wouldn't say we are "defenseless" either.

Already happening, there have been a couple of videos already posted on tik tok (signal boosted by spy balloons?), of guys launching balloons and then calling authorities to report them.

Funny you should say that, this is an interesting read. Specifically the "China and EMP" attack portion. You'll notice that a lot of the quotes are from the early 2000's. China's been planning this for a long time.

I hope everyone has been brushing up on their mandarin while they used the pandemic and social issues to divide & destabilize us with a disinformation campaign.

I think its all a ploy to justify another cold war, trillions of dollars spent on the military industrial complex and of course wealth transfer.

What does China spend to send each balloon, vs what the USA spends to shoot one down?
