Fiberglass long bows as a kid. First hunting bow was a hand me down Prairie Fire, 85# limbs, ridiculous overdraw. Shot 2219's. Oh what a beast to shoot ! lol but, I did kill a moose and a fair number of dear with it. Was a ton of fun!

Started out with green poplar tree bows...only last a couple of weeks but there was a lot of popular trees and time as a youngster... Binder twine strings..twisted and lasted well..
Red Ossier Dogwood willow arrows with any feathers availible...heads were empty rifle cartridge case heads..mostly 30-30 ...great blunts or with nail stuck thru the primer hole, nail head in case wedged on arrow and pending on what we were hunting sometimes pounding the nail flat with rocks to make broadheads....later we put nails on the rail road tracks ....aftyer the train passed over them they were the perfect broadheads...
Later we used seasoned choke cherry bows...but they were a lot of work ...the poplar were fast and simple...one could shave the inside limbs with a knife for tiller and balance ...We called them Survival bows...deadly and took even a moose with one...
In the mid 70"s a guy named Pete Sheply was making these new radical bows called the compound ...that was my first compound PSE..20% let off...shot that till the mid 80's when Golden Eagle bows revolutionize the industry with new inovations such as recurve limbs ,cut away shelfs and unheard of 50% let off...
Shot the Golden Eagles until early/mid 90"s when Matt Mcpherson was inovating the market wiith his bows [Mathews]
Presently shooting Mathews and APA

Mine was a 4 wheel compound Cupid Bow 70 pounds bought at Silver Heights archery in Winnipeg back around 1979 I believe. Shot a blistering 188 ft/sec but was accurate ( or maybe I was)

Some Browning thing that was way to small for me and I was scared to shoot. Built a guy a bbq pit in exchamge for it, and the old girl still hangs on my garage wall.

Just got it a couple days ago a bow tech insanity CPX 70#. So far I love it! Can't wait to spend more time at the range and get out and hunt with it come fall.

Was a bear whitetail EL, 50 lb draw, had one if the first single pins on it, shot xx75 arrows, 125 grain tips a whopping 190fps. I remember if I didn't like my shot I could catch the arrow before it left the bow, this was 1994. Next bow was a pse nova, still shot orange xx75s but with 80grain nib points, dad bought it of trophy book from a man named Jim who taught me how to shoot it properly, went on to win a provincial title that year. Jim went in to open Jimbos in Calgary, he had long hair back then kinda had a hippy look to him, I still remind him of that when I see him at shoots....
Now it's a creed, still winning shoots here and there plan on doing some serious damage this year.

First bow was a champion.....can't remember the model name now. Was right around the time the company closed down. Decent bow, but parallel limbs were out within a few years and I upgraded to a Kodiak bow logic 34. Shot that for 5 years, and bought my Hoyt CRX, in 2011! Love it!!

My wife bought my first bow as a Christmas gift. A 1986 Hoyt Rambo. Still hanging on the wall out at the farm. Used it for six months and upgraded to a high country sniper with special ordered limbs for a max pull of 120 lbs. Went through many upgrades with high country, Hoyt, Clearwater, Mathews, and now back with a Hoyt Maxxis.

The first bow I tried to shoot was a Bear Whitetail Hunter. I used it for a bit but never got good with it. Thought I would give it a try again and finally purchased a bow, a Hoyt Carbon Element.

Mine was a flat fiberglass stick bow I got from a neighbor when I was about 8. The first hunting bow was a Chekmate Squire II compound with laminated split limbs. I bought it at Edmonton Archery Lanes in 1983.

Mine was/is still to this date and if all is well my last bow. A Jennings Sonic XLR, bought it back in 1992 and this year I took My first bull moose with it! Many whitetail, mule deer, yotes, beaver just about anything I could into range the bow has never let me down. Feels right to be in my hand every season.

Wife bought me a PSE Laser ll in Sept of 1980 at The Archers Den in Edmonton when I started shooting it some thing didn't feel right, went back to the Archers Den and I believe the owner was Rick Visser had me do the dominant eye test and found out i was left eye dominant started shooting lefty and it felt right.Shot and hunted with that old PSE with 4 fletch 2117 and a rubber flipper rest and fingers till 92 when I bought a Onieda Eagle Strike Force, big heavy brute shooting 2317 and 2512 out of it. very accurate for the time. Shot and hunted with that till 2008 bought a APA viper that year and a Darton 3800 in 2010 using the Darton for all my hunting now. Still have all the bows including a Marten Bobcat, Marten Hatfield recurve take down and two low poundage recurves for my nieces to shoot when they come over. Still have all the gear to hunt with any one of the bows but my favourite is the old PSE. Nothing within 30 yards was safe when I hunted with it.
I thank my wife for giving me that first bow since receiving it she has been a seasonal widow from Sept till Dec almost every year.

It counts the same as your first hair bow, bow tie or David "Bowie" cd in relation to this topic.
On another note did anyone have a Jennings buck master? That was my first solo cam and a really cool bow at the time.
