I don't care foe his game much either but I'm pretty sure he'd have to pass through waivers and I doubt the Oilers let him go for nothing.

Sure is a lot of talk about him the last day or so, isn't there? Brian Burke on Ched today: "I don't think he can help you".

It would seem Smith showed up today. 18 SA in the 1st isn't a great way to start.

I'm not sure what instance you're refering to, but I don't feel they've improved much from last year.

Ah, wasn't sure. I know some other guys have goals, but didn't think they scored them while playing a bottom six role.

Correct. Refs are just as bad as last year.

Smith stole a point, looking at shots in regulation...51-22 isn't a good stat, you're not gonna get many points out of games like that. Good for Smith though. OT should be interesting.

3 on 3 OT is the best thing to ever happen to the NHL.
Now if they could only bring back the enforcer era as well and I’d be a happy boy...

Yep, good OT again. Good to see them hang in and win, especially with secondary scoring.

I wish they could would play OT until their was a winner but I guess with television scheduling constraints that’s an impossibility. I don’t like the shoot outs at all one bit. 3 on 3 is awesome.

It's pure gold that two of the worst players on a good team are some of the best players on the Oilers? I'd probably want to downplay that, but have at er I guess.

I watch a lot of other sports, and no other leagues, whether NFL, MLB, NBA, or NCAA, come even close to having such an exciting product for a regular season game than the NHL has with 3v3 OT. Especially Oilers 3v3 OT.
Also, I'm in the camp that doesn't think McDavid is at 100%, maybe not even 80%. Heck, this afternoon he looked like he was barely at 50% of his usual self. Bobbling pucks, no superhuman speed, lots of turnovers, meh passing--overall not very dominant. A couple games ago we saw in the 3rd him turn it on and look like his usual self.
Good thing Leon Draisaitl has taken the reins while McDavid finds his game. Lord what a beast he is. If healthy all year, I genuinely think he could have a shot at scoring 55 goals.

Didn't know there was such a camp. What's the speculation, hurt, tired due to averaging 24 minutes a game, or just in a funk?

I'm guessing his knee from the injury last season, which has been exacerbated by playing so many minutes.
There was some uncertainty that he wasn't even going to play the preseason due to his knee, which makes me think it hasn't fully recovered, but the Oilers couldn't risk starting the season without him.

Or, could be that being surrounded by good players brings out the best in them????
