Have you watched a game this year????? Most nights he is the only one or part of the select few that are giving their all. McDavids got 28 points with almost no support. Gaudreau has 34, but Monahan is also very hot right now. Same as Stamkos and Kucherov with 36 and 34. With the Schene line in St.Louis, all 3 are doing awesome. If Draisaitl was doing as well as he did last year, McDavid would be winning the scoring race right now by 10 points easy.
Also the first 25 games have seen higher point total than recent years. There are 10 guys on pace right now for over 100 points with 6 of them on pace for 115 to 125. Big change from last year when McDavid was the only player to crack 100.

I also don't understand the McDavid hate...did the fans think that he was supposed to win the Cup all by himself for Christ'sake?? He has been playing with one team tied behind his back for the most part (although of late he does look like his 'mental toughness' isn't up for the losing, he looks like he is struggling from the body language and facial expressions)....poor sod, he had to go and sign a long contract thinking he was going to fix what is broke....
Anyway, per Johnny and Monahan being hot, let us not forget Ferland on that line, he has really stepped up his game, putting up points as well (another really nice goal last night against Avs, he has a heavy shot and quick release)....Just to give credit where it is due. Also, the other 3 lines chipping in points here and there seems to help as well. 27 points, 23 games in, looking good. As opposed to 18 points 23 games in... At least Flames have a shot at making playoffs this year. 12th Place overall and hanging on to that spot for over a week now.....(go Flames go)

He’s ahead of where he was last year at this time. And will consistently stay at that pace while others will be falling off. On pace for over 100 points again is not a good thing?

Nope, he is supposed to win the Cup single handed, and bring glory back to the City of Champions. Anything less than that means he sucks apparently. Not that the rest of the team and management sucks. Simple math.

They are at bottom for reason. To many goals against, not enough scoring. Oilers management needs to figure how to tighten up one of these issues fast. I believe the are at bottom of hockey curve right now. Oilers Only going forward if they solve one of these issues soon, then they will climb exponentially out of the cellar. Peak in May/June. Stamp it!! Go Oil!

I was going to say imagine where they would be without McDavid. But then the lottery win was only a few years ago and everyone knows exactly how bad they were without him.

Yes a trade is wildly unpopular but necessary. Due to the hype & his ability, his cap hit next year makes a winning supporting cast of players untenable. Reality!

Flames will give you Stajan, Freddie Hamilton and Brouwer straight across for him.....

They should keep the team spending cap in place.. and make them all free agents every year, one year contracts only

Trade McDavid???????? I dismissed the first person that said it as a joke, but if anyone thinks that trading McDavid is a good idea, they need to get on or off medication immediately.
Also, 12.5 million per year for McDavid might seem steep, but it 4 years when every team has 2-3 players in this price range or higher, the Oilers will look fairly good having him locked up for another 4 years at that price. If the Oilers paid him 10 now and then had to resign in lets say 3 years, then we would be in big trouble.

Yessir if it was equal cap hit greatest trade in league history for one team!! However we know all three Flames won't be re-upped @ any $$ figure.
Oilers haven't got a playoff hope this year, sorry Bessie

McDavid should do something drastic and motivate his team. Be a man and drop the gloves with Chara.

They'll move nugent-Hopkins sometime this year but who knows what they will get in return or how much of his contract they'll have to retain. The only plus out of it is he has been the second best oiler this year so his value is much higher then last year.

Well how did it work for the LA Kings, the St. Lous Blues and the New York Rangers when they had Gretzky?
The greatest player on skates does not a champion team make.

Outside Oilers fans, does anyone else actually think McDavid is the best player in the world right now?
I know given a choice of any player I could have for this season, I wouldn't be picking McDavid.

He was at one time and he wasn’t good all by himself, he had quite the cast to help him write his fabled story,
The Oil won it without him, and The Kings nor anyone else won it with him.
McDavid is but one player, and the Oil have what 100 million invested in him for the next few years??
What happens when he gets injured, career ending injury let’s say?
Then what?
All those millions that would be better spent on a few above average players then just one would go a hell of a lot further than with him.
Sure Edmonton got lucky with the “lottery “ for McDavid”
But not every lottery win is the road to happiness.
The teams right now that are having success don’t have him.
And yet Edmonton is where?
29 in a now 31 league team.
Thank god for McDavid.

If mcdavid has a career ending injury Tonight, he is paid 12.5 until his contract expires? No clause in contracts you say? I’m curious.

I'm not sure which is more boring, the Grey Cup or the Oilers game....

No, not high, haven't been for 30 years. The Oilers 'dominating every aspect of the game' and having a one goal lead isn't really a big deal to anybody but an Oilers fan who has had to watch their team lose and suck all year. But I digress. I think the Grey Cup is more boring at the moment.
Edit: there was just some passing touchdown record set by Argos...so now the Oilers are more boring.
