HAHA yeah I thought that too, but not sure he could have stopped he was almost at the goal line before he tried to tuck it in. I am not sure he has ever actually had a breakaway before, and the fact he almost pulled that off was impressive. He should have roofed it.

Well not sure how we didn’t win that game last night. Can’t recall a puck sitting on the line that many time in a game and not go in. Puck luck was not on our side for sure. Good game though, thought was decent effort and definitely kept up with a top team. So positive there. On to the next one.

I also thought it was a good game, and nope, that puck was not gonna cross the line last night! I was disappointed the Flames couldn't win in OT with the initial man advantage. They really have trouble winning in OT this year, drives me mad. But, a point against a very good team with a good coach. Next!

I hate to say it. But I am turning into Flame fan. Just Like Sutters style of hockey. Impressed with the flames goals against, third, fourth liners are contributing.
Oilers are good, don’t play defensive game (if ever). Will be following flames 🔥 rest of season.

Hard to say what this break will do. They'd lost a few in a row and I'm guessing Sutter would want them to keep at it to work out the kinks. Slow start after their training camp break but it's also a time to heal any nagging injuries.
Compresses the schedule a bit down the road I'm sure.

No practice, all must stay at home and away from the rink, at least that was the way it was with the Habs earlier this year, it's tough, players usually don't do well after a week or 10 day lay off.

I hate to say it but I see a 2 week shut down of the entire league, an extra long X-mass break, way to many players on Covid protocol all across the country

It’s like yelling in a ghost town here waldew.
Every time they lose 2 in a row.
Maybe a big shutdown over Xmas is what the oil and flames both need to break the slumps.
Come out again like it’s the beginning of the season once more……

Are we supposed to be in here commenting and obsessing? They got games cancelled because of Covid. What is there to say? When they come back and play, I suspect people will comment. Any comment I have about fully vaccinated teams testing positive is going to end up in That Other Thread which I don't venture into.

Now don't be that way Moose! We got enough of that going around here without you being that way too. I wasn't scolding you. Just don't know what to comment about. Nothing going on.

Sounds like the NHL is going to make an announcement by Monday, but insiders are saying it is likely that games will be postponed for Calgary until 2022. They might let them play the games on the 30th and 31st.
It sounds like they are sort of waiting for 1 to 2 days without any new cases added. As well as looking at adjusting whatever schedules need to be rescheduled to accommodate all games being played.
Assuming players all stay asymptomatic they will be in protocol for 10 days, so the first group of 6 would get out on the 23rd, the second group of 3 on the 24th the third group of 6 on the 25th, and the group of 3 added today would get out on the 26th. (I am only including players not coaches or other staff).
So with 18 players in protocol, seems unlikely they will play on the 21st or 23rd. It is mandated in the CBA that no team events/practices etc can occur on the 24/25/26. So the earliest the next game could be would be the 27, but I believe they will need to give the Flames a few days to get back skating. I also think this is in the CBA about safety, but not certain.
so maybe they let the flames practice the 27/28,29 play on the 30 and 31st.

2 more players and 1 staff member added this afternoon, the count is now at 30, don't look for them back on the ice anytime soon is my guess

And for the league in general I think this is going to get worse before it gets better.

Absolutely it is, if the league was smart they would take their Olympic break now, pause the season for a couple weeks and try to get a handle on this over the holidays then play on and just forget the Olympics........... but then who am I ??????

I would imagine the Olympics are out for sure. With this crap going on no team owners are going to risk their players going into a weeks long quarantine from what they may pick up in China.
In the coming days we may well see the league shut down until the new year or at least until 27th or 28th of this month.

Don't see really how they can get around a pause, there are currently 97 players on covid protocol around the league, plus how many staff ?? and every day they are adding more, Ontario cut fan capacity to 50% Montreal banned all fan for tonight's game, I believe the writing is on the wall.

Flames shut down till the 26th December. It will suck if they take two weeks off only for the three holdouts to get it a few games back in.
