I'm interested in where they'll be sitting following November, when they play Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Jose x 2, Colorado x 2, Dallas, and Vegas.
Also, anyone care to explain the "Continuation" rule? Both Oilers announcers on 630, and the guys on Lowe Tide on 1060 both said the whistle went before the puck crossed the line in the New Jersey game. If that was the case, why did it count? I've never heard of the discussed, but not explained, "Continuation" rule before and couldn't find much about it via Google.

Not sure about the continuation rule....I do believe the whistle was blown a split second before the puck went in, however the call on the ice was a goal and pretty hard to overturn.

This is another point I found odd about that goal, was it originally called a goal? The reff was not pointing at the net like a normal call. Put his hand up and skated behind the net and took a look.. Then only once skating to the box to review was it called a goal. All very strange, but is what it is I would say in 9 out of 10 games that doesn't count. Next time you may not get that call but you did. Take em when you get em.

I may be a bit foggy on the exact lettering of the rule, but basically if the puck is travelling into the net, even if the whistle sounds, the goal still counts as long as there is no outside forces causing it to go across after the whistle.
So if it is already in motion, the whistle cannot negate the goal if it crosses the line on it's own. That is why the goal counted. They ruled that the puck was already heading into the net under it's own power as the whistle was blown.
I believe this is a new rule brought in this year. I like the rule, for this such instance. Either for or against your team, it's a smart rule imo.

What's going on guys? If I wanted to watch a team get outshot 2:1 and lose to a team that has yet to win this season, I'd have watched the entirety of the game last night.

Oilers have been behind every game this year. That said, that was the worst period they had this year. Watch for the win this period.

Ok who is calling this game??? Did you see them stop the play as Oilers had to many men on the ice?? No call of course but the guy calling was all, they only had 5 skaters. So shows a replay and sure 5 guys then 3 more jump over the boards, so he's like that's fine nobody has touched the puck. Runs it till Oiler touches the puck and starts counting 4,5 ugh oh umm ( still 2 not counted) then ejects, and is like No that was fine good non call ..

You watching the Sportsnet feed? I thought that was amusing as well.
When I watch, it's usually online, so it's usually the home team broadcaster. Some of those guys down in the States are awful. Other than the too many men thing, these guys seem pretty decent.

An Oiler loss?? Pretty humerus. Giving Blackhawks their first win of the season? Also entertaining.

It’s pretty obvious that the Oil weren’t going to go 82 and 0. The Blackhawks were going to win sooner or later.
Time to regroup and start another win streak. Don’t lose two in a row

I realize these guys are professionals, likely have 9-10% body fat, intermissions are 20 minutes, and with commercial breaks and stoppages, there are lots of breaks, but is 26:59 (Leon) and 26:21 (Conner) minutes of ice time sustainable? For reference, Kane was the most utilized forward on Chicago and he played 26:21.
Also found it interesting the Leon is averaging about 2 minutes more a game than Conner.

Leon plays a lot of PK which is why he’s typically seeing more ice time.
I agree it is way to much ice time. But what can you do when your bottom six has 1 goal total in six games. Need to run your horses but this ain’t sustainable.
