Found an interesting find today well looking for some big bush bucks in the muskeg up north. Seen a tine sticking out of the moss and expected it to be a small one. Tried to pull it out of the moss and it wouldn't come. Turns out it has been there so long spruce roots were covering it in a couple spots. Must have been laying there for at least eight years.

No didn't look for tree rings. Just figured it was about the size of a eight year old tree. Crazy part is I found the other side a hundred yards away. Scores just over 153". Hard enough to find sets when they are fresh let alone when they have been out there that long.

I had a stange shedding year too, only picked a half dozen whitetails but about 40 mule deer sheds, normally it's the opposite. Only 3 or 4 old ones so lots of freshies.
What area are you in Boonie? Deer population still strong?

I didn't find much for freshies this year, but did find this. I've found a lot of weird things over the years but nothing like this.

I never got to participate much in this years Shed thread , got lots of pics as they lay , but my internet is painfully slow and takes forever to upload....Soo heres my pile from this year . Found @ 34 and some deadheads as well.
Had a terrific time getting my Grandson who is 7 out with me and he has a beauty matched set of Whitetail antlers now..
Well heres the pile anyway.
