Was just looking at the standings. It's crazy how bad Detroit is:
-They are in last with 35 points, second last is LA with 56 points
-Their differential is -121, next up is Ottawa at -49;
-Only team to be eliminated by the trade deadline in the past 15 years;
-Are in contention for the worst Wings record of all time, .250 winning percentage;
-They are on pace to match the seventh-fewest points in an 82-game season in NHL history (47 points);
-Of the 40 players who have played a game, only two have a positive +/-; and,
-They have one player in the top 100, Larkin with 49 points.

Yzerman will turn them around in short order. Within the next 2 year they will have 16 million (at minimum) in cap space with Zetterberg, Franzen, and the cap raise. I see them very similar to Colorado with 4-5 years

This is going to be an improtant off season for them. As of right now, have about $38.6M of projected space. They have about $18M coming of the books on players who aren't even really playing let alone the potential cap raise.

The potential issue I see with a quick turnaround for Detroit is they aren't really any big impact forward UFA's, can't see Detroit signing Hall (is he a big name these days anyway anymore?), available. Guess they could take a run at Pietrangelo, Krug, get a better d-line though.

Sounds like Talbot is making his 3rd straight start.

Maybe Ward is an AO reader....? Finally got the message from the pros on AO?

Hall won't sign with Detroit, he wants to play for a competitive team, he has spent most of his career with early springs, he wants to play in the playoffs. There is no way he is going to Choose to sign with Detroit with their current record.

I guess If Steve Yzerman makes some huge trades to speed the process up, but as the team sits now there is 0 chance that Taylor Hall would go to Detroit, or even any top 10 UFA's

Just to clarify, I said Detroit wouldn't sign Hall, not the other way around. Nitpicking, I know...

Here we go again....*sigh*

Lousy start, lousy turnovers, goal against on first shot of game less than a minute in, and almost another moments later on another weak turnover.

Why?

Ok, they look like they woke up. Two quick goals from Brodie and Johnny. Now maybe they can even keep the lead...?

Agree. Johnny seems to be buzzing around everywhere so far, Andrew Eat Bread and Tkachuk both really involved so far....

They showed up a little late to the game, but for sure won that period. Could have had one or two more with that effort.

Johnny looks like he washed down a big bag of Skittles before the game...with a big can of Red Bull....he is just zooming.

A good win. That last period, the Flames were turning the puck over like crazy again....but in fairness it was bouncing everywhere. Ice must have been awful tonight. Anyway, close call with the weird bounce off boards behind net, and then the collision with Garland and Talbot when he dove to clear it. Glad nobody got hurt there.

They needed those points. And to keep winning at home.

Just a heads up for the 5pm start today.
Got me some tickets, so I expect a solid Flames performance Haha.
Will be a big test, as looking like Vegas will take 1st and, the rest of us slot in wherever.
I will even take some Oilers luck, where we get totally outplayed, but end up with a win. Not picky.

And you're still behind? tsk tsk.

What was the Flames record against the Avs in the reg season last year? Swept the series if memory serves. Seemed to work out quite well.

Outta be a good tilt though.

Pretty much right. Maybe buddy will be able to maintain his composure a bit better than McDavid did though and won't have a look of utter disgust on his face when called.
