Bylsma is definitely a possibility. A lot of talk about Dave Tippet. I'm not sure about him. I don't know why. As you mention here and others mentioned above, I do think he goes with a younger guy. Todd Nelson circling back?

Heard this from my son today — I asked if we had to toss in a bag of practice pucks — his response — No Kevin Lowe is still with the Oilers. So part way there. See what happens with KL as he is personal friend of the owner.

MacTavish was a good coach, but management wasn't his forte. He will do well in the proper position once again.

Agreed he was a great coach! I also believe he had a great influence on decisions made by Chia!

I sure hope so. Lots of free tickets if it happens.
That's the only way I'll attend an Oilers game.

Wow factors are player/contract changes to come.
Jesus could be the new coach but the end result would be the same.

HUH alright, tough crowd. Seems like a pretty significant position filled to me but alright. Will hold off on any more Oiler chat until you guys cash in on your shinny new LOTO won draft pick I guess..

General managers and coaches don’t score goals defend or stop the puck. McLellan and Hitch are excellent coaches. Chia was a pizz poor hire. Coaches between MacTavish and McLellan were mediocre.
I want to see the team in October. What KH does this summer and at the draft.
The best part of all of this is that ownership admitted he is responsible for where the team currently sits. He’s given KH full autonomy to Maye his team better and do whatever they is needed to get to the playoffs. Tippet is part of that process.

The past 2 coaches were STELLAR pedigree, it's not a coaching issue, it's the total LACK OF HEART in that dressing room

The moves are significant, like them or not. As others have said, it's mostly what's put on the ice that will make a difference. So we wait.
Don't let the absence of chatter tell you that we don't care. We've just seen a lot, heard a lot. Besides, fishing is really heating up. We've got stuff to do.

GEEZ, why so quiet about the Mike Smith-Oilers chat?? Talbot to Flames chat?? Smith has hot streaks then cools off ...Koskanin has hot streaks and cools off, with proper timing, Oilers could have some good goal tending, unless both of them cool off at the same time

Tried talking hockey in here, but kept being reminded it's June and hockey is over. So why bother.

I am actually interested in the Over/Under on the date the 2019/20 Oilers thread gets locked down.
I say DEC 14 is the exact date when they implode. Thoughts? Call the over under Christmas day?
Seriously, what are the oilers doing to get better? I don't see any trades. I know about the new GM. I hope for the sake of the fans that major changes are coming.

Hockey was over for Edmonton around the middle of Nov? You would think they would want to be talking?

I'd be cautions of Smith if I was you guys. He only excels in the playoffs, so I don't think he'd be a good fit in Edmonton.

On a more serious note though, for forwards, I think Dzingel and Zuccarello would be good fits. Possibly Anders Lee as well...
Dzinglel is pretty quick, might be able to keep up with Conner better than anyone else on the team, almost put up 60 pts last year, and leaving Kassian there, first line becomes:
Dzingel-McDavd-Kassian
Leon obviously bumps down to the 2nd line in an attempt to distribute the scoring and have more of a 1-2 punch. Playing with Zuccarello, Leon would still have lots of scoring opportunities, so second line:
Draisaitl-Hopkins-Zuccarello
3rd line:
Lucic-Gagner-Chassion
4th line:
Khaira-Brodziak-Yamamoto
Zuccarello put up 40 pts last season and Dzingel put up 56. Their combined cap hit right now is $6.3M, the Oil have about $8.3M in space, they are likely getting raises above the $8.3M, so Holland would have to get creative (buyout, trade, etc.).
