Oilers play absolutely amazing, lose by one, Flames show up and put in a half effort, lose by one. Think it's pretty clear, except for the guys with glasses, which team is playing above expectations and which team is playing below.
I'd love to see what this team could do if they'd even play at 90% for the rest of the season.

We play 60 minutes we win games like tonight for sure, problem is we don't see enough of that.
Yeah Oiler fans and their assessment of the two teams is a bit off.

Isn't your top line pretty much interchangeable with anyone from Bakersfield?
Yea, Russel's the difference maker, you know he blocks so many shots because he's in his own zone all the time right?
Really "entire team", that's the best you can come up with? If you're gonna come and comment on here, you could at least pretend to know what you're talking about....Norris winner, captain, 3 of our top six dmen, nothing....?
I'm sure you would have liked to beat Detroit 5-1 like we did as opposed to losing 3-1 like Edmonton did.

LOL you guys are down a D man and it's devastation, but we are down a D man who is our captain but that doesn't register, so we have our whole team out there?? Dang you guys are on a roll tonight.

We are missing are top Dman in Klefbomb also down Russel. Plus our top line McDavid, Neal, Kassian. Nygard. Yet we still compete. So with Gio out the Flames can’t compete ?

Ohhh!! Your grumpy after a loss. Our top line is interchangeable with anyone from Bakersfield ??? Ahh OK not sure what to say to that.
Your right. I forgot about Gio and Hamonic. To Bad your team isn’t a little deeper on Defence.

Some pretty big names off the board this morning with Trocheck going to Carolina and the Islanders giving a kings ransom for Jean-Gabriel Pageau. I was hoping the Flames would go after JGP, but not for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!

Lots of movement this year so far. For the Flames I doubt we do anything. Sadly with our play this year, a pick up today isn't going to change the program. Unless it was a massive move but since we are in the playoffs, that won't be happening.
Man Mike Commodore , when he is on 960 cracks me up. The Insider is hard at work.

Watching trade deadline and I was surprised to hear the Flames only have a 44% chance playoffs this year. The majority of your final 20 games must be against playoff bound teams. The Oilers are only 3 points ahead but are given an 81% chance. Amazing what 3 points, 1 game in hand, and a favorable schedule can do.

At these prices. Sell and retool at the draft. Hard to watch uninspired hockey

I thought, with the exception of the Pageau and Kase trades, that prices are reasonable.
That being said, I'd still love for him to trade Brodie or Harmonic if he can get anything worthwhile. If he could get a handful of 2nd round picks, or a 1st from a drunk/desperate GM, I wouldn't hesitate.

If that is true that is an awesome pick up. He is a Tom Wilson/Ferland type player that the Flames need.

I'd be pretty stoked. The longer it takes to announce the less likely it feels though.

The real excitement as far as moves go will happen in the off-season. Depending on how the season ends there will likely be some major shakeups. Treliving is letting this core prove everyone wrong by giving them 1 last kick at the can. I like the 2 moves today and Gustafsson might be a dark horse and turn into something. 60 points last year as a Dman is nothing to sneeze about.

It's on TSN Trade Tracker now, so I suspect it went through. Did take awhile though.
I like the Gustaffson and Davidson deals, the Forbort one seems like a bit of an overpay for a guy who very likely won't play.
I think this was the worst/best trade of the day though:
-Barclay Goodrow to the Lightning for a 1st (Goodrow has 24 pts this year, 17 the year before, and 14 the year before). He was the Sharks 3rd/4th line center, and they got a 1st for him?!? He's slotted in on the 4th line behind Point, Cirelli, and Johnson.

Yeah I see the trade now. That is a stiff price, but really the lighting's first round pick is really second round as it will be between the 29-31st pick. They are saying Goodrow adds some toughness up front that the Lightning were sorely lacking.

Listening to 960 and sounds like Geo should be back tonight. Gustafsson sounds like on top line PP. If he can use some of his offensiveness, may work out. Tough game tonight but we do better on the road so who knows.

I like the Gustafson acquisition.... That guy has a nasty heavy shot from the point. I think he had 26 pts last year? Will do some checking, but I think he's a good addition. And for a 3rd round pick? Cheap cheap.
