Back in the 60'S I was fishing out side of the Sooke basin on Vancouver Island
Had been fishing for salmon (Trolling) and all a sudden my line just peels out.
Well I thought we hooked bottom, stop the boat and the line was just going out..... almost at the end of line so we turned and chased... afther about 15 min my line started coming up and it broached right in front of us !!!
4 TON of Killer whale who did not seem to know it was caught !!!
The lure had snagged the dorsil fin.
ended up cutting my line....
I wish we had the cameras then that we have today

Well I went to net a fish and this guy decided to try and take the net from me and so I made a quick move. He got the handle of the net upside his head and was knocked out. After that night he learned to leave the net alone!

This is my second favorite story of all time, next to the infamous "hamburgler" story from RHF...I think the guy in that story got knocked out too!

Fish guts!!!
Once trolling for pike I caught some old black disgusting fish guts that someone thought was appropriate to just throw into the lake rather than dispose of properly...pike don't typically pick these up and they sure stink after sitting on the bottom for god knows how long!!!

Good story< and I believe it. Must have been awesome to see an ORCA breach in front of you. The whales and related species are getting closer to us humans every day. Closer in our minds I mean. Closer meaning WE are actually just starting to figure them out and communicate with them. I am a witness to this. More than once.

It was a sight, but used to it for I was born there, More fearful of having my 14' alunimumn boat flipped, personally I thought after that that hook and line was not even noticed by the whale.

Living: Hooked in to a loon once. The #8 lb test was no match for him sadly. But, we saw him back there a few weeks later, no worse for the wear.
Not so living: A skate in a backwoods northern ontario lake, about 2 hour hike from civilization. Was probably a 1940s style, no foot in it.

I remember when I pulled out a pair of bicycle handle bars from the NSR...
Also remember snagging onto a pair of dirty old underwear on Canoe Lake while bottom bouncing...

I caught a Sea Anemone while fishing off the wharf at Cow Bay in Prince Rupert this summer, does that count?

Fishing in Red River by Lockport, manitoba for white bass and I pulled in a snag of line and at the end was a 20+ lb carp. Not much fight as the carp appeared winded from the line and hook he was attached to from previous fisherman. Looked like a big goldfish

So far the strangest thing I've caught was a bridge. I was on a boat and my lure went right over the bridge and through the slats so I couldn't get it out. A very nice elderly lady wrestled it out of there while laughing at me. lol!

Ive hooked my fair share of bridges, never been able to land one though even hooked a motorboat in Osoyoos Lake when I was a kid. they were a bit PO's when the shear pin broke and they lost the prop. fortunately I was able to pin it on the kid fishing next to me

I caught a old Volkswagen Van Emblem from the NSR in Fort Saskatchewan.
Oh, and a 1972 Alberta Farm Licence Plate, it was so rusty, it went straight into the trash.
But the Volkswagen emblem is hanging up in my closet.

Snagged a small beaver by the tail once while spinning for trout, boy was he mad, threw my coat on top of him and pinned him down while my brother pulled the hook out. Unfortunately it was the only thing we caught that day.

Once while fishing in about 30 feet of water on Lake of the Woods i managed to land a rock with about 5 feet of rope tied around it that someone obviously had attempted to use as an anchor. It was the only thing i caught that day.
