Default Homemade coyote calls

What do people on here use for home made coyote calls if any. I know I can pick one up at WSS for $60, but I alreadt have a mp3 player and a bunch of calls downloaded. Do you just get a megaphone that accepts a mp3 plug?
Or is it just better and cheaper to pick up a cheap store made job.

Honestly for me. The best part of coyote hunting is calling them in with my hand-held/mouth-blown calls. I personally don't see the need to drop big bucks or any money on the electronic callers for coyotes.....but thats just me.

I use a Johnny Stewart Howler and a Sceery AP5 and after trying about a dozen different other calls I have settled on those 2......if they don't come into those they either don't hear me or they don't wanna come......

the nice thing about an electronic is you are not the target of their interest, you can set it up somewhere find a nice spot and watch. You don't have to worry as much about stuff. that being said i have never used one, and have only ever had success with my bro using the les johnson call. that sucker brings them coyotes in close.

They are fairly easy to make, once you have a wood lathe and some skills working with wood. The exotic woods are very cool, but some are a pain to work with. The "voices" for the calls are available online, but they all need tweaking to get the right sound; so this takes practice and a good ear.
Like most things these days, there are some good online tutorials out there, and a few books to get into the intricies of shape and sound.

I find it a lot of fun and extremely rewarding when you call in a coyote with a call you made yourself.

I have enjoyed making my own as well. I really like using deer antler for the calls and have a howler I made from a cow horn that screams.
