Well if those figures are correct let us hope it stays that way, I heard that in Texas 97% of the land is privietly owned. Scary. And I thought the old saying was "Everything is bigger in Texas"?

Yes its a very scary thought,,, Honda...

Working in southern A.B. a person sure misses the freedom that my family and I enjoy around home.. Most of the land down here is private with very little open to the general public... At home our house and land sits pretty much on the edge of the private land and crown land although we only live 7 miles from town.. If a person wanted to we could travel from home to the arctic circle and never touch private land.. Its a freedom that our family does not take lightly and the boys and I take full advantage of it when ever we can...

The Alberta Crown owns the surface rights for approximately 60 percent of the province.

Funny you ask this, I looked this up a couple of weeks ago. Got the info. from the Alberta Energy website.

I was surprised to find out that the crown does not hold all of the mineral rights, 19% is freehold.

Ya, the extra 10% is Federal land....parks, reservations and such. Not much with public access...for activities like hunting anyhow.

Yeah, I think I will live in Alberta the rest of my life. Born here, die here.
