Default New to Archery- Bull Moose

Iv owned and shot a Bow for about 4 years. At targets.
Im thinking about hunting bull moose. probbbly till the end of november. And hoping to hit the october rut next fall.
Im Just wondering about Draw weight. Wich do you find the best to make a swift kill? Right now im pulling 70.
And i was wondering where are the good vital areas to Hit. I Realize Behind the shoulder would be Probobly the best place. But would you take a frontal or a neck shot on a moose?
Thanks.

Ice,

Do you have a moose draw tag for this year?

70 lbs is more than enough draw weight.

With archery equiptment, NEVER!

Broadside or quartering away, get a double lung shot or dont take it.

Ice, as you may have realized by now, there are very few places where you can still archery hunt moose right now. In case you missed it, the entire province went to draw for moose this year. There are no more "general seasons" for moose for rifle, and the vast majority of archery seasons are long closed. I believe there is only 3 WMU's where you can archery hunt moose into November: 212, 248 and 410. Are you in one of those zones?

Yes Im In 248, Wich i Belive is Ministic Bird Sanctuary.
And thanks for the posts.
Broadside Lung shot it is.
Also do you think thrashing around at a distance. Would Still go aways to helping me close some ground on a moose. is would it spook it into another direction, seeing how calling would be pretty much useless right now?

I dont think thrashing will work right now. Personaly I love hunting late season moose, run cutlines untill you cut a fresh track then start tracking. Instead of waiting for them to come to you go find them, its kind of like spot and stalk without the spoting. While I'm tracking I use bull grunts once in awhile to cover my noise, keeps them more relaxed and sometimes you can get them to come investigate but they wont cover any great distance like in the early season.

Kill shot is extremely important if you want an ethical kill. I know guys who'll "get em bleeding", then track. Not a fan.

Broadside or slight quartering away is all I'll take. I always aim behind the elbow and shoot a little higher depending on how high up I am. This helps to make sure you get both lungs. You really need to get an idea of where the vitals sit, so you can pick your shot.
Check out this site for some vitals pictures:

I use a 65 lb pull and have killed moose with one shot every time.

broadside only as stated before, i'm shooting 63# and my slick trick blew right thru this year, just behind the shoulder !
Spot and stalk , or tracking if snow is around works great in nov., also there is sometimes the "second rut" in case a few got missed and bull grunting or a few soft cow calls can work, but don't over do it, they are alot more wary this time of year.
