Default blurry scope at 9 power?

i just bought a vortex diamondback 3x9 x40mm

and when it is on 9 power it is kinda blurry

when it is on 5 power it is very clear. so i looked thourgh a cheap bushnell scope and it was alot clearer on 9 power the my diamond back

any ideas why this is?

Your eye piece is probably out of focus. The diamondback's have an eye piece that can be focused. Set it to 9 power and focus the eye piece it should clear up with some adjustment.

Where did you buy it from? Have you taken it back to have them look at it.Vortex has a pretty good warranty. Might be something simple. I don't have any of my own, the info i got was from their website.Had a 3x9 VX II do the same thing but focusing the eye piece is all that was needed.

What range are your targets when you are looking through. The diamondback series have a paralax setting of 100 yards so depending, if you are looking at a target 20 yards away, it will seem blurry on 9 power.

Which is why I have scopes with adjustable parallax on my rimfire rifles.

take your rifle and scope out to the range and aim it at something at around 500yds. Unlock the eyepiece and turn it in up to about 5 turns. If the image does not clear up by then, rotate it outward and you should find the image clear up. It is important that the ring that is used to tighten the eyepiece into place be tightened sufficiently. If it is not tightened sufficiently the point of impact may shift on you, leaving you with a rifle which won't shoot to it's potential. If this doesn't work, you may consider sending it warranty.
