Google Earth WMUs
Hello,
I have converted the boundaries of the WMUs in Alberta so they can be seen in Google Earth. I was hoping to have the list a bit more organized than it is, but I figured I should just share this as I don't know when I will have time to pretty it up.
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0A...thkey=CNC-9sUL
I am also working on creating a base map for Garmin units. I hate the idea of having to pay $150 for backroad maps to have public data. Any how when I have it complete I will post it here as well.
Let me know if there are any errors or additional details that may need to be added.
Cheers,
Chris

This is so seriously awesome! I've been working on this on and off in my "spare" time at work for my personal mapping. I've only got the southern most part of the province done for the most part.
Did you digitize this heads-up, or use another method to construct the boundaries?

DarkAisling,
I used a boundary .shp file from the Gov of AB and converted it to a .kml. Then went through and labeled all the zones manually in GE.

Thanks for sharing first,
I found two WMU 429 and one of them should be WMU 428.

It should be there. Unfortunately one of the prettying up duties was to organize them by Mountain, Prairie etc. and colour code them. I will have to get that done for the next release I guess.
I'd like to add the Canmore no hunting areas as well at some point. Just have to find the data.

Thanks!
That is one darn useful bit of work, and from what I know of a few WMUs very accurate even on the "weird" parts, thanks.
Free beer for you if I'm ever in the same place.
