Default Nikon BDC Reticle

Just wondering if anyone has used the Nikon BDC reticle. I'm looking at the Buckmaster 3x9x40 or Prostaff 3x9x40

I have the 2.5-10-50 BDC on my 7mm rem. Really like it. With 150 Nosler Part. loads I have the crosshairs at 100yards, and then its 200, 300, 380 on the BDC.

I have several and don't care for the silly little circles.

I ended up with the Bushnells DOA 600 and with my loads its actually a DOA 700m and it works good but i dont like the big dots the used... Although i like them better than the Nikon circles.... They look a little odd.

used to have one, kind of works and the scope was pretty good.

I had zeroed that rifle at 100m and noted the distances on the stock. Realized after a while that with a flat shooting cartridge zeroed at 250 I can shoot to almost 400 without bullet drop compensation for hunting purposes. I don't think the little circles and the design of the scope would work to well for true long range.

Would recommend a Zeiss Rapid Z if that's what you want to do.

I think the retical changes with the power of the scope. My dad took a doe at 400 with a 257 rob last year. he used the BDC and we ranged her at 403 yards. we practice at long range all year and this was as close to a sure thing as you can get. Berger 115gr VLD. she went down on the spot.

I'm shooting a Weatherby 30.06. I currently have the prostaff 3x9x40 with the Nikoplex reticle and have seen some articles on the BDC and wondering if its worth the switch. I've got someone willing to make a trade with me for a tac light That I won in a competition and have absolutely no use for so its not like it would cost me.

well thats a no-brainer, get the scope, the optics will be very good and the BDC will most likely follow your bullets trajectory very close since that is a very popular cal and im guessing one of the main ones Nikon would build their BDC charts around. My 7mmRM is very similar and i find my Bushnell BDC Reticle to be bang on center target out to 700m when i sight in at 200m.

So i would recommend you get that scope. If you go out to the range and play around with a hundred bullets or two im sure you will love it over trying to guess the drop on the long range shots.

BDC is the way of the future for rifle hunting.
