SKS Bush gun

I recently purchased a SKS Simonov 7.62 x 39 as a bush deer hunting gun
and something to have fun with at the range.

Ballistics are similar to the 30- 30win.

Anyone else use this as a bush gun? How do you like it?

I like mine for plinking away just yesterday it got 27 confirmed beer can kills at about 45 meters

the best part about it is the cheap ammo so you can practice like a madman so that in a snap shot situation you would definitely know your shot
I would definitely use it as a bush gun

Ya, next to a .22 it might be the cheapest plinker there is.

I've read that some guys improve the accuracy quite a bit by upgrading the iron sights. Cuz the things not really designed for a scope.

Cabelas has a scope and mount for the SKS. might not want to use it for game since the cartridge isnt long enough to be legal, unless its changed since I hunted way back when

I understand that it is legal to hunt with as long as you use soft point ammo and not the military surplus stuff.

looks like its changed since I last hunted. I think it used to have to be 40 mm or longer. good news I guess
