They drive out by the launch? Isn't that where the river comes in?

As far as I know the only access to the west side of the lake is from the boat launch near the bridge at the 1A on the east side of the lake. I've driven it a couple of times this year already to the ghost village area, ice is 16+ inches thick. It is approximately a 3-4 km drive on the ice.

With regards to walking, although I haven't done this, my dad says you can park at the McDougal Church and walk from there. It appears to be 500+ metres to the lake.

Hope this helps. Cheers
P.S. I'm assuming you mean "Ghost Reservoir" west of Cochrane, and not "Ghost Lake".

I believe it is reserve land there. doesnt seem to stop anyone tho. you need to get permission to access it there.

Thanks for the clarification, as my dad's info was from years ago when it was more common to do it.

Actually, the McDougall Memorial Church off Highway 1A sits on the 40 acre Morleyville Provincial Historic Site that includes interpretive paths down to the reservoir. The McDougal Stoney Mission Society are stewards of the site, and the last time I checked, foot access is permitted throughout, but please stay on the trails to preserve the native grass.
There are services held in the church every June and September. The volunteer McDougall Stoney MIssion Society is active and always looking for new members - http://sites.google.com/site/morleyvillesettlement/

Hard to describe exactly. Past the village but before the church kind of in the middle. The side you see as you approach it has about a ten foot cliff face.
