Default Did Pinehurst ever have Lake Trout

Just something I’ve wondered. The creek running up to touchwood is called trout creek, and pinehurst at nearly 100ft deep has some great depth to the majority of the lake. I think I’ve found 110feet on the lake. You would think it was another historical trout fishery with Touchwood.

I can’t remember exactly where I read this (government or historical source) but they attempted to stock the lake with lakers back in the day. I don’t think it had a native population, but I could be wrong. All I know is that the only lakers there now are lake whitefish

Touchwood lake trout stocking has not really worked out. But apparently there are some in there.

As for Pinehurst would not be surprised. Lakers were stocked all over the place in the 50's.

My dad has a book from way back, Lakes of the Lac La Biche District. Touchwood was mentioned in it as having Lake Trout.
Its a neat read. All the named lakes, and un named sloughs and lakes are in there, with hand drawn bathymetric maps. Species and references are listed for each body of water.
