Nice knives sns2 and Coil!

I recently got some of that reddish color Micarta. This gives me an idea as to what the final product will look like.

Thanx for sharing...

I too find tapered tangs aesthetically pleasing. I can weigh in on that once I’ve got mine in hand but from the photos he appears to be very meticulous with his grinds and the fit/finish looks impeccable. It’s hard to believe he can do that for the price point.

The goal for this winter was to shoot a sambar stag with my sons and have three identical knives made from the antlers but last night the youngest decided he wanted to shoot his own stag and have the knife made with its antlers. The oldest had to play copycat so thats the new plan. Head south and find three stags with antlers fit for some knives. Then discuss options with either Sponaugle or Crotts and have three new knives built.

We will head down next week to start looking.

Blades Canada is having a sale on some Spyderco models, if anyone is interested. Some are pretty good deals. Ends tomorrow evening, I think.

Just doing a little knife sharpening. All 4 from Clint Chisan in Magnacut. Damn good knife steel.

The filet knife on the right was made up for my buddy Tim Prinsen. He played center for the Eskimos and coached the offensive line after he retired. Clint did it up in green and gold and etched his number into it as well. Just a beautiful knife.

Glad to see you didn't cut yourself open again...

Yep, Clint does some nice work...

Speaking of sharpening.

Regarding Averagejoe's post #2104, I did some research on this Hapstone sharpening system, and liked what I found. So I took advantage of the sale, and got one of their systems. I have sharpened 4 knives from zero...very impressed.

Oddly enough I just acquired this knife off a good friend. It did in fact make it's way into Alberta lol.

Very curious to see how Crott's D2 holds up next to my Ingram in D2.

Beautiful knives. If you have any Uline catalogs kicking around they make great sharpness testing paper.

Glad that you are happy with the system. They also have amazing customer service if any issues arise. I picked up the R2 system since I already had a few clamps and accessories from experiments with another sharpening system as well as some of the Premium CBN stones. After lapping them in they are performing wonderfully.

I like that micarta a LOT and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that colour before. I wish I had known about it for that Sponaugle I just had built.

Blade length is 3”-31/8”. Not sure on the OAL yet. It’s a Chisan.

It’s just black G10. The photo must be deceiving a bit

Yup. I’ve got plenty of black G10 and it doesn’t look quite the same. Initially I thought that looked like a canvas or burlap micarta in black with shades of grey. Now that you mention it’s G10 it reminds me of a benchmade rift I had with black/grey G10.

Looks like a direct copy of a dozier semi skinner.
