Question Old man fishing the Oldman near Lethbridge

Got a rod and some tackle and some time. Want to try fishing the local river just to start getting back into it. Any suggestions as to rigging, bait, species, locations etc. to do a bit of shore fishing? Been a few decades since I’ve been able to wet a line. Most likely catch and release. Just need to get out.

Thanks in advance

When I lived in Lethbridge (yrs ago) used to fish the old man by the river camp ground. I know a few guys used to and most likely still fish for sturgeon but I was always chasing trout.

I still have seen fly fisherman in the area but I never quite got into it.

Worm with a bopper and just let it drift with the current.

You have a good shot at a half dozen different species under the Whoop
Up Drive pedestrian bridge. Sturgeon rig with a minnow or worms.

Really? You get trout at Lethbridge? I was always of the belief that trout below Monarch tho present were rare. I suppose there’s nice plenty of nice big browns lurking at night in the deep holes?

Man too many places to try…
