Glossy Browning repair?

Hello AB

I unfortunately did something stupid and looking for advice on repairs of my shotgun.

The gun is a 1980's grade 3 browning. Probably a grade 5 in today's standard. The rear stock has new scratches in the rear stock due to myself wearing a Fleece vest with zippers in the armpits which I was unaware of.
Sharp zippers due damage!
The gloss finish has many scratches because of my mistake.

My question is has anyone tried polishing these out? If you have....did you have success? What products used?

You can polish those out but a great deal depends on how deep the scratches are. Can you post some good clear pictures? The gloss browning finish is not all that hard so polishing compound and cutting compound can be used to buff out MINOR scratches, similar to the clear coat on a car. If they are at all deep, you may have to refinish to get rid of them.

I'll try a high polish. Scratches are hopefully only top coat.
