Default Middle of the Middle

I’ll premise this by saying I’ve shot a lot of bears. I can not believe that people are serious when they advocate shooting a bear middle of the middle. But it’s trending. lol. Finally someone is saying the quiet part out loud. If this doesn’t start at the right place the time stamp is 9:50.

Who comes up with sayings like “middle of the middle”?
Not anyone who’s actually done any bear hunting I’d think…….

A 30 second google search on bear anatomy will illustrate that bear’s aren’t built like an ungulate (not like M of M is good for deer etc.)

Same holds true for African plains game.

Research and a profound respect of those critters we hunt seems to be a lost thing these days.

Right....there....practice practice practice.

As an aside, my Rhinehart is 10 or 12 years old and faded bad, so I went to Home Depot today to get a spray bomb.

Young girl working there asked if she could help. I asked her what she would recommend to paint a bear.

'Paint a what??'

A bear.

The look on her face.

I ended up using Behr paint.

I shoot everything straight up from the back edge of the front leg when broadside. Bears included. I have also heard on videos to aim for "middle of middle" and it makes me cringe.

If someone says middle of middle when referencing there shot placement on bears, they either are:
- Stupid
- Completely new to bear hunting
- or stupid

Don’t risk it, do not repeat bad advice

Middle of the middle is beyond stupid, ignorant or uninformed.

The internet has been good for a lot of things. YouTube fixit videos are awesome. It is just as awesome the amount of truly STUPID, and even dangerous crap that gets posted on the net. The problem is the number of tards posting is rapidly starting to exceed the number of people available to post the corrections and out the stupidity. The internet will be the downfall of reasoned though and empirical knowledge. AI will only make that happen faster.

Do NOT shoot bears in the middle, on or just behind the shoulder works fine.

I've been hunting to long now, and must of dropped a dozen of bears already. They all seem to drop just like deer . Never heard of the saying middle of the middle . I've herd of middle of the chest ,and thats where a lot of shots go and drop bears . I tried the double shoulder shot with my 338 mag . That I did not like . It sure drops the bear ,but also delivers a lot of pain until you give him a kill shot . Bear howled so much a dumb bull moose responded thinking it was another moose calling in the rut . I would say a 1/4 shot into the shoulder then going threw the chest would be the most humane .

The death moan in a bear can happen with any lethal shot placement outside the head.

This first one didn’t, the second one did. Both with almost identical shot placement using the same rifle and bullet. Both went almost identical distances before piling up. There is no rhyme nor reason to it.
